I mainly have guy mates, he's quiet around them. He says he just likes letting me carry on, I want him to join in. I am most certainly not quiet around his mates... not really that loud but I make sure I'm sociable and talk to people. I would find someone who came along and didn't talk to anyone rude, so I guess I avoid being branded with the same thing.

I too have to force myself around new people. I am very shy and awkward and turn red easy. Meeting guys friends is scary for me, especially after a very bad experience thanks to the evil Jerkface, it's a lot harder. But try just doing is slowly with fewer people and you will find he feels a bit more easy.

What I want him to do, and what I make him do are completely separate. I would never ever try and make him do something he doesn't want to do, doesn't make me any happier. I just avoid him while we're out because he is not the fun, smart guy I love. He's the rude, boring guy in the corner.

Is this the way you've been feeling for awhile or is it only recently that it's come to a head like this?

Heres to 10 months of trying just that! :|

It only really becomes apparent in social situations, as I am relatively quiet when it's just us two. I find his quietness quite rude and feel others feel the same, so get frustrated. I feel he finds how loud I am obnoxious.

Deary me.

Sounds a bit like my relationship.

My girlfriend was chatty and sociable, and I was quiet and insular and I kept holding her back. (in my view)

We broke up four weeks ago.

Commented that he's quiet, or commented that he's rude?

I hate that quietness or not wanting to be social is considered rude.

I often think talking to quite a lot of people is a tremendous waste of time. As most people are terribly boring.

Ellie, what's the fella's take on his 'quietness'. Shy, or can't be arsed?

I appreciate he finds it difficult, but he's quiet around my friends who he's met so many times. It's so frustrating, and I try to understand, but it's hard when I find things like that so easy.

That he holds you back?

Well, respect his honesty there. My ex-gf wouldn't admit it, but I kept telling her there was more out there than having to be saddled with me.

Some people don't like to talk, it's the way it is sadly.

Thanks, I'm okay though!

He says it's just that he wants to say the right thing, and that the time passes before he could have said it.

He worries so much about saying the wrong thing it makes arguments impossible.

I wish people would allow me not to talk sometimes. Unimpressed

Yeah, but why does he do it?

I find a lot of people not worth my time, maybe he feels the same?
