I never write here because I am not a writer but I did come across this article that I thought you comedy writers might appreciate.
The story is actually about Universal loosing money on films BUT I think it has an excellent message about comedy writing and picking a demographic to write too. They do this by contrasting the family friendly 'Land of the Lost' big loss compared to the raunchy R rated 'The Hangover'.

I'm looking forward to their Middle-Eastern sequel to Stuck On You about two Sudanese insurgent cojoined twin brothers - one of whom dreams of becoming a suicide bomber, whilst the other just seeks a quiet life making IEDs. Cue hilarious arguments between the pair. Stuck On Yusef is the working title.
Yeah, I kind of wondered who Land Of The Lost was marketed at. I mean, it's PG-13 but I read lots of the jokes are R-Rated or whatever.
