Hello Britons, have any of you managed to watch the Australian Tv show "Summer Heights High". It is absolutely amazing.
Summer Heights High
Hello Australian,
I think this might have been mentioned in a previous thread. The general consensus was that it was very good.
Yes it is carpark man,You should watch the YouTube video or download the series as it is probably the only thing (along with "The chaser war on every thing") that Australia can be proud of in terms of comedy.

Including Fosters?
What is fosters ?
Do you mean the beer adds?
No, I mean the actual beer, it's a bit of joke.
I'm only messing with you, Dame Edna and the early Paul Hogan stuff used to make me laugh.
It's weird that Australia hasn't produced more comedy, I've met plenty of Ozzies and they're not what you would call serious or dour people.
Pull your finger out Antipodeans and make more comedy.
Is he going to do any more?
I thought it was fantastic to be honest. Mr Gee was my favourite.

Before this thread is locked and you are redirected to https://www.comedy.co.uk/forums/thread/7675 (which explains that Summer Heights High has been aired in the UK), I feel it pertinent to mention The Chaser's War on Everything has just been given a two week suspension for a sketch that mocked children dying of cancer. Call me old-fashioned, but I found the sketch hilarious. Also, there is more to quality Australian comedy than Chris Lilley and The Chaser's*. But not a lot.
* Not a grammatical error
EDIT: Here's the sketch that landed The Chaser's in trouble: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oS36ZuCW-7c

Unfortunately they tend to be very earnest.

Chris Lilley has said he is reluctant to do a second series. He's reportedly doing something new that might involve some of his old characters.
I have seen the sketch and it really isnt funny. Huge public outcry about it here in Aus shock jocks and tabloid TV getting in a state of moral outrage.

That's what makes dark humour so funny - the fact that pseudo-current affairs shows and chat shows love to show (exploit) dying children, but woe betide anyone who dares to joke about death. The Chaser team apologised today. I think they should have only apologised for the unoriginality of their Josef Fritzl sketch (which was also in this week's episode).

Made me laugh.
I thought it was a bit of a lazy follow up to the show he done before it(was it we could be heroes, the nominees, or both?), which was pretty good.
As for Australia; Frontline(and The Castle, actually just working dog in general) and the Micallef Programme are both brilliant, asides from the Lilley stuff and Lano&Woodley, they're all I've seen too.
