BNP - Could it really happen?
I doubt they're on the march to victory, but certainly it's going to make life unpleasant for some people. There is something deeply depressing about how a few grubby MPs and financial hiccups and it's enough to get people voting for this sleazy bunch.
I'd like to think it couldn't happen, but the fact that so many people watch soap opera in this country proves how stupid we are as a nation...
Dan
In troubled times, when the ruling governments are perceived as weak and corrupt, the people look for a strong vision, clear leadership and simple solutions to problems.
It's worked for just about every dictator or radical movement on the planet throughout history.
It is doubtful that the BNP will take power, but it is foreboding for future elections.

None of which are provided by the BNP. After all the fuss I don't think the voting will go as happily for the BNP as they expected.

I totally agree. My prediction is a big result for other nationalist parties (Scots, Welsh) and UKIP.
These local and European elections mean so little to so many of us, they're hardly newsworthy.
Nor will the results be portentous of General Election outcomes, as there will be many political thrills and spills between now and the General Election.
The tragic thing is the european and council elections are hugely important.
These guys will be helping make real decisions that will have a real effect on all of us
So fightening.
Hang on. Am I missing something? Out of 2000 council seats they have won 1.
There are always going to be a small number of people who vote for these idiots. The good thing is, it's clearly a very small number.
There is no way that they will get 8% of the vote to get Griffin elected in the European elections.
There was an election?
No, an erection.
Oh. Ok. Carry on!

It's not so much that they might end up taking over the country or some new euro-fascist empire. That really is a smoke screen dreamed up by a discredited labour party.
The danger is they'll get funding and respectability. Where that happens hate crime and racial crime rates climb. I mean the funding for one EU seat would give them a 1000% increase in party funds in expenses alone.
It's not them winning that's a threat it's more money for racist leaflets and agent provocateurs in pubs that's the problem.
They're not so much a party as a sleazy, criminal conspiracy of inadequate bullies.
And idiotic political inertia by people who half read a tabloid and gawp at rolling news between soaps and Big Brother will do them well.
I'm thinking of forming my own party. One with jelly and ice cream.
