David, opening yet more threads only draws attention to something that you want to see ease off, so I'm assuming you've got your tongue firmly in cheek. 
The BSG forums aren't the private reserve of any of us (except the two great Wizards of Oz). But posts from the old-comers about 'whining' newcomers are equally as whining in tone. Plus it does feed the notion that some newcomers have had about cliques, which I know isn't true, but the reaction to new blood has been at times very protectionist.
This site is fantastic, that's why people like to come here.
This site is remarkably free to express opinions. That's why people want to talk about whatever gets them excited, or bugs them. Whereas regulars on another site can't even discuss BSG without user bans and deletion of threads.
How often have people said 'If a thread annoys you, don't read it.' Usually the clue is in the header.
All the qualities that make this place a vibrant and attractive place to be are equally under threat from old-hands' protectionism and cliques. Try and remember the welcome we all recieved as newbies and let's offer the same courtesy in return.
No one is whinging! I've only seen one post moaning about the site. the others are moaning about us! Please do remember we are also people and indepentant thinkers too not tied to anyone in partitcular so don't look at us and think "4laughs", look at us and think "human being with feelings". I don't think it's fair to be singled out just because you visit another site. Anywhooo....that's all I'll say and I'll get the kettle on.

It's only noticeable because a lot of people came all at once. (why is that, anyway?)
Anyway, the more people here the better I say.

Don't worry David i'm working on a virus to bring down the 4laughs site. It prevents you posting around the clock and stops you entering competitions on time 
I agree with everything else said above but it can be a little irritating when there are posts with 4laughs injokes on the BSG, maybe these could be keep to the 4laughs boards. And if you are from 4laughs and I haven't already said it to you, welcome to the BSG
