*Waits for a rude joke*

Errmmm ... "At the end of Elliot's old fella"? :/

(I wasn't going to make one, obviously.)

I thought someone else might, though! It's always the way! Teary

Awww. *pets* There there. There there.

Aaron is bored and un-tired, but feels that he should probably may as well go to bed.

What's unusable about the Dock? You put all your favourite applications in there and then launch and cancel them from there. It stops your Desktop being cluttered with apps, and you don't have to navigate through endless pop-up boxes like the Windows Start menu.

As with most Mac protagonists, you don't have a balanced knowledge of facilities that exist in Windows.

Windows has had Quick Launch at bottom left of the task bar for ages.. Before Mac OS/X; it is turned off by default, but it does essentially what you describe.

The Mac dock has combined the Quick Launch with the Task Bar, such that it is no longer obvious which programs are ready to be called and which are actually running, so they had to put small changes in the icons to tell you that.

Yeahhhh! What he said!

I'm glad my Mac doesn't automatically add programs to the Dock like my XP PC does with the QuickLaunch bar. That really grinds my gears. Angry

Some programs have the option to add an icon during install, but I've never experienced one automatically adding itself. And if it did, I'm only one right-click away from removing it. No biggie. :)

Microsoft's programs (IE, Media Player, Outlook, etc.) keep adding themselves and I keep deleting them. It gets frustrating.

I can honestly say that that has never happened to me, at any time, under any version of Windows. How odd.

Huh?

That is normally a tick box in the Install program.

[ ] do you want an entry in the start menu
[ ] do you want an entry in the quick launch bar

Apart from the 3 put in there initially with the Windows install, I have NEVER seen it add anything automatically to quick launch.

Like I said, it's happened many times with Microsoft programs that are updated via automatic Windows updates; there's no option to add or not add them because the updates are done without intervention. I lock the QuickLaunch bar and one morning I'll come in and all the icons don't fit because Windows updated Outlook or something. I already have an Outlook icon in the QuickLaunch bar, so I wind up with 2 of the stupid things.

Does anyone else ever have an itch of boredom? I just feel so bored it's like my head is itching inside out.

Wave

Not exactly an itch. But I'm so bored that I waterboarded myself [1].

[1] "Waterboarding" is a common euphemism for hair washing in Finckworld.

Ah, I've already waterboarded myself today.

Have exhausted revision, videogames, guitar and listening to music. Could do with speeding up through the rest of this afternoon, I feel.
