Just wanted to see if anyone else here knows him, ex-vaudeville comic appeared in many RKO shorts in 30s and 40s, and usually played henpecked drunk who was trying to hide other women from his wife He was also in the Mexcian Spitfire series of comedies which I have on DVD. I first became aware of him when the BBC used to show his short films daily in the mornings about 20 years ago
Leon Errol

Yes, Peter, I am the other person on this site(?) who knows of Leon Errol, discovering him in much the same way you did.
A similar turn from that time and also a star of many shorts, which the Beeb also showed, I think, is Edgar Kennedy. He was also in quite a few of the Laurel and Hardy shorts, of course. I have a DVD of some of his stuff, procured through ebay.

Yepthat's right the BBC used to show Kennedy and Errol ahorts on alternate eeeks for a couple of years(or might have been a year can't remember) as well as Clark and McCullough and Gil Lamb, basically RKO shorts . Leon's always appealed to me though as I like farce

He did some outstanding work alongside probably the greatest drunk of them all - W.C. Fields.
yep, in Never Give A Sucker An Even Break, thinkk they might have strted off in the Follies together. He also appeared in The Noose Hangs High with Abbott and Costello
