The Monkees

Great show, have both seasons on DVD, ordered them from the States

Me too, the boxes are like the portable record players you used to get. I also have 33 1/3 Revolutions Per Monkee (weird, and not in a good way) and Head (fantastic).

"Monkees is the craziest people" - Talking cow with Frank Zappa. :D

Does this mean the The Monkees hasn't been released on DVD in the UK? Unbelievable. Seasons 1 & 2 are available in Australia and have recently gone to the 'cheap' section in one of my local DVD shops, each selling for A$30 (about 15 quid).

Incidentally, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Graeme Garden have said The Goodies could be described to American audiences as The Monkees meets Monty Python.

Not that I'm aware of. They did release them on video in the 90s, I have those too. :$

they are out in the UK now, came out after I'd shelled out loads of money for season 1 Angry

*checks* Oh yeah. :( The packaging isn't as nice as the US version though.

Great music, but I can't really comment about anything else about them. Other than didn't one of their moms invent Post It notes?

Mike Nesmith's mum invented Liquid paper (Tippex).

Mike Nesmith's mum invented Liquid Paper correction fluid. And Micky Dolenz invented Metal Mickey.

What they said. And Mike Nesmith invented the bobble hat.

One of these is untrue.

Micky directed Metal Mickey and this children's sci-fi show called Luna if memory serves

And one of Ant and Dec's pop videos I think. Plus the last episode of The Monkees TV show.

I quite like the special that they did in the mid-1990s. Obviously Mike Nesmith's way of mocking the whole thing but entertaining all the same.

Were there only two 'series'? It seemed to always be on.

As well as some CDs I've also got about 3 sets of Monkees bubble gum cards.

I used to watch it every day after school. I thought it was the funniest thing back then, not sure what I would think now.

Did you know there was a new group of Monkees, in 1987? There were auditions held in New York, and 4 new guys were chosen. I think they were called The New Monkees.

Oh, and didn't Mike Nesmith create MTV?
