Was The Office all that ground breaking? Page 2

It wasn't even a comedy.

It really was you know.

:D
I meant I didn't find it funny.

Maybe you needed sub-titles.

Or jokes. ;)

There were jokes in The Office. And that is coming from me, I'm not exactly a fan of Gervais and think The Office was a fluke, but it was very funny and did have jokes.

It wasn't groundbreaking at all though. The mockumentary form goes back years. I know the Victoria Wood ones were very popular back in the day. And as the OP mentions there was the mockumentary from The Day Today that was actually called...that's right...The Office.

Operation Good Guys was the first in this mould wasnt it?

Am I missing the point of this thread? Are there darker forces st work?

Posting from phone. Sorry Aaron.

It wasn't groundbreaking at all. But it had lots of heart and it was very funny.

The first series of Extras was also pretty good until it all went west when Andy went from wanting a line in a film to getting his sitcom produced by the BBC.

Haddaway, When the Whistle Blows was excellent! Are you 'avin' a larf? Is 'e 'avin' a larf? etc.

The Office is the most successful British sitcom of all time and that says it all really. It's genius and so is Gervais

Is it, really? Or is that just Gervais's own self-centred boring egomaniac spiel?

How do you fluke seven hours of exceptional television?

It's been sold to over 70 countries and syndicated in 8 I don't think there is another British sitcom that can boast that?

I particularly remember the Victoria Wood ones being very popular back in the day.

Were you even born when she was on TV?!

Now you see, I knew that one would come back to bite me in the ass, but every time I tried to edit it last night it kept saying "Page cannot be loaded", so in the end I thought "Screw it" and left it.

No I wasn't born then. I meant I know that they were popular when they originally aired, not 'remember'. :D

It's ok. I was being tongue in cheek, young man.
