Gervais vs. Coogan? Page 2

Karl is reeeeeaaalll!!

But Gervais made him famous, so we have to thank him for that.

Coogan's the better actor.

But I actually find Gervais the better writer.

Spot on.

Coogan any day of the god damn week... apart from that singer bloke that didnt quite take off... Gervais is good as well.. but it just seems as though his characters are really examples of him when he was at school... the fat unpopular kid getting the ultimate revenge... but it seems a bit bizarre that his new best writing mate is now the freaky looking geezer... maybe it makes Gervais look even better... "Now could Peter kay please lay on my sofa" i wanna look into your life.. "So why did you take up comedy Peter" were you bullied at school... did you have to do sports in your nylon speedo pants in front of everyone.

Coogan, no contest. I like Gervais as well, but I think Coogan is a genius.

Thankgod everyone has said coogan, I was afraid i may have to kill you all.
That said is no-one going to vote for ricky.

I have read the scripts of extras and of partridge and i think coogan is better at that too. So many ideas. Bald olympics, brilliant.

I'm going to nitpick now. Do excuse me!
He was thin and popular as a kid. Only got fat as an adult.

Coogan has created amazing characters like Partridge. None of Gervais's characters will probably ever be as good in that way.

But Coogan's made quite a lot of crap ones too. The Portuguese singer someone just mentioned for a start.

Also, he's done a lot more material than Gervais has so far. And aside from that I think they're too different to compare, really. Has Coogan done any shows that are realistic in the way that the Office is? Or written a believable, touching romance? I don't know.

Has Coogan ... written a believable, touching romance?

Has Gervais? :S

You're right they are too different to compare, but people love pointless debate, have you not noticed that?
;)

Pointless debate?

Oblongs vs. triangles.

Discuss.

Yes, you silly sausage.
Even Gervais dislikers usually accept that the Tim/Dawn storyline in The Office is great.

Oh, that. Right.

Of course, we can't be sure how much Merchant put into it. From what I've seen of them, he's by far the funnier and cleverer of the two, nevermind anything else.

Could say that about Armando with Coogan

I'm Alan Partridge? Laughing out loud

Coogan. The Slaggs would hold Gervais down as Coogan pummels the git.
