Jam and Jerusalem Page 14

Well here we are in sunny North Tawton, Devon, Thursday 7th May 2009, @3.54pm where the BBC are curently filming series 3 of Jam and Jerusalem with all the usual people from series 1 & 2, and special guest this time of Charles Dance.

Today is the last day of filming and tomorrow they all get back in their trucks and head back to London.
I think that all the crew wonder how we all can live down here like we do in the back of beyond. I think they can't wait to get back to civilisation.
So the general feeling from most of the people down here is that Jam and Jerusalem is the biggest load of pure S--T to hit our screens for a long time.
It's extremely condescending to the people down here. The crap false Devon accent of Dawn French. Call me old fasioned but I always thought that "A Comedy" is funny?
This is not!! I assure you.
Famous people, accomplished actors, but a crap script. Please Jennifer, please stick to acting and leave the writing to other people who know how to do it.
Yes it's brought a little money in to the town of North Tawton, and yes we all have enjoyed our 15 minutes of fame as extras, not to mention a little bit of money in our pockets and very nice catering food. BUT that's it.
I hope that all of the cast and crew have enjoyed coming down here to work for two weeks but don't bother coming back for another series, assuming you manage to get more funding for series 4.

Now that does sound a bit condescending.

For the record, I have always enjoyed J & J.

Of course it will be back. She's the establishment now!

I obviously know f**k all because I really liked J&J. Not the first episode, which was odd, but everything after, and a magnificent theme tune. Probably not enough knob gags for some. And the f**king public eh? What are they like watching it?

To be fair, Marc, what don't you like? You're like the nicest man on the boards with rarely an bad word about anything or anybody.

(By the way, I'm in the J&J's rubbish camp. Not so much not enough nob gags, as not enough gags. And a real waist of a great cast.)

Dawn French has a real waist. :)

I knew as I was writing it was the wrong waste/waist, but I still ploughed on anyway. :(

I didn't mind J&J. Didn't find it that funny, but it was watchable. I felt French's character (and Lumley's) ruined it and it would have been better with a completely subtle tone.

She wasn't banging on about Gurkhas, was she?

Lumley was dropped early on wasn't she. Just in that opening ep which had a very different tone from the others. For me it was more of a comedy drama than a standard sitcom and not just because of the single camera.

BBC One sold it to the viewer as very much a sitcom.

It just never made me laugh.
