And now, the end is near... Page 6

Or to clarify: they're people whose sole intention is to cause friction, argument, and trouble for and between other members of a site, or to otherwise disrupt that site and the services provided by it.

Basically, an annoying tit with too much free time.

(Yes, much like me.)

Correct. But surely my small penis hypothesis holds water?

Yes, but not much. ;)

However in the internet sense, a troll is a man (they're ALWAYS men) with an inordinately-small penis who seeks to bolster his self-worth by putting down or bullying others, usually in chat rooms or forums such as these.

A few years ago on the official South Park forum (which is pretty infantile), it was revealed that one of the nice, sweet and normal (read boring) female posters actually had multiple accounts. Her alter egos were among the forum's most cruel, abusive and bitchy members. I thought it was a terrific wind-up and wanted to congratulate her for having duped so many people, but she was promptly banned. A friend of hers later posted - seriously - that the girl had problems and was undergoing psychological counselling. Unbelievable. Things got worse on the South Park forum when another female poster (who was obsessed by Trey Parker) committed suicide.

IMO, life is far too short and precious for wasting time in childish games of online oneupmanship. Even worse are online expressions of petulance. For goodness sakes, don't take internet forums too seriously. BSG is great for info it provides on TV shows that I love - and the Forums provide amusing and insightful thoughts/posts from some people. It's also probably handy for shallow attention whores (like me) who are trapped in boring jobs or relationships/marriages.

Has there ever been a sitcom in which the characters almost never meet, but instead just dwell in separate houses and communicate (interact/argue/romance) via a silly forum - and we see bits of their family/job in the background? Plus their real thoughts/appearance (often different to what they're posting).

I'm not sure what you're insinuating Kenneth but I'd like to clarify that I only have one user account on here. :D

Or are you in fact user no. 746398!? Ooh, it's like living in America in the 1950s with all the suspician round here at the moment.

I'll name that troll in three. Does he wear glasses?

J McCarthy

:O

IT'S SIMPLE.

IGNORE THESE IDIOTS.

SEE THEM AS SHIT ON THE SHOE OF BSG, BSG IS A BEAUTIFUL PARK IN WHICH WE ALL WALK IN THE SUNSHINE BUT SOMETIMES JUST SOMETIMES, YOU GET SHIT ON YOUR SHOE. YEA YOU GET PISSED OFF BUT EVENTUALLY YOU'LL GET RID OF IT. YOU MIGHT STEP ON A FEW MORE, BUT YOU'LL GET RID OF THEM AS WELL. THEY'RE JUST PART OF LIFE, MUCH LIKE SHIT IN THE PARK.

OH AND, IT'S GOOD LUCK TO STAND ON SHIT.

Caps Craig! Naughty!

Just lightening the mood there with some jokes.

To further clarify: Bandage, Bear and I were given official warnings for the above offence.

Make your own judgement on that one.

It makes you look cool and rebellious? :)

Ha - I like that one.

Right. Don't let the trolls win, Graham, Huge Bear. Please come back.

I'm going to say this once and (try my best) not (to) respond, as that's exactly how we all get roped into this trolling behaviour.

If something is winding you up in 'Critique', please stop reading the thread and try really, *really* hard not to respond. Go read something else within 'Critique' and give feedback on that instead. There are plenty of scripts (good/bad/ugly) in there that don't get any feedback, whereas the 'trolling' threads rack up an inordinate amount of stuff, with people 'having' to respond. There are a lot of writers (wannabe or otherwise) who would like feedback on their stuff. A lot of them need advice one way or the other and would appreciate that, especially from the more experienced writer-types.

If you find yourself responding to the same thread three or four times just stop and think: am I deliberately being dragged in here? before giving the sad loser with no purpose the satisfaction of responding.

I don't mean to annoy anyone here and, obviously, take back any comments if someone's blood starts to boil for any reason. I'm not going to respond any further to this thread, for exactly the reasons that the trolls do!

I read the other thread in critique but am still none the wiser?

What is a troll?

Is Don Rushmore also Nitram Sktar? and did everyone get warnings for implying that?

I think multiple account holders should be named and shamed!

No, Tom, Don Rushmore is not Nitram Sktar! Angry

Certain people on here, slyly suggested I might be a troll - without a single shred of evidence. Angry

And now, Tom, you have linked me to the situation again. Thanks for that. Angry

For the record, I have one user account - Don Rushmore. So, Tom, and anybody else, please do not muddy my name again.

I have been in touch with Aaron, and he assures me he is keeping an eye on the situation.
