Louis Theroux Page 2

What always facinates me is the way Louis Theroux asks "and how do you feel about it?" It's almost child like in its simplicity no matter what the circumstances.

Picture the scene:

Louis Theroux held hostage with a blood-stained blade to the throat while being fisted by the gay ex-Nazi, yet despite all this STILL he asks "and how do you feel about it".

That bloke doing the 500 years probably would've got about 7, if he'd lived in England - and he would've only had to serve half of that, because he'd probably promise some naive, overly-liberal c**t of a councilor that he wouldn't do anything naughty ever again.

Actually, though I may seem like a fan of American prisons, I do actually feel sorry for a lot of the blokes who end up in them, especially the ones in California. The prisons there are completely ruled by gangs. Many prisoners, especially lads in their teens and early twenties, find themselves in a situation where they're forced to affiliate themselves with a gang, in order to avoid being brutalised, or worse, becoming someone's "wife"! This starts off a vicious cycle, because the gangs only let new guys join, if they do something to earn their membership, e.g. stab a rival gang member. The new guys then invariably get caught carrying out the stabbing, and end up getting another x amount of years addeed onto their sentence. It's a scenario known as "getting lost in the system". Some guys go in, having committed the most trivial of offences, and don't come out until they're old men. I've even heard of a few guys who've gone in, having committed no offence, i.e. they were sentenced for a crime they were later cleared of, and still end up spending most of their life locked up, because they were forced into all the shit I mentioned above.

God bless America. :)

Interesting though potentially disturbing topic. I've been going through all of Mr. Theroux's docus the past couple months and think he's great. Though I havent watched "When Louis Met..." yet because I have no idea who any of the Brits he follows are and consequently don't think any of it will really translate. Anyway, here's to more from this brilliant, as Rob Chandon would say, "documenteur."

Thanks for the reminder, I'm now set to record. I love Louis!

I know he plays up the innocent geeky style a bit but he is funny when say, he's in his little specs with his hair neatly combed and in the hot tub of a middle aged swingers party or adult movie set.

But he also seems quite genuinely interested in people and not just out to make them look stupid like so many do these days.

I hope he does some more 'celebrity' ones, although I still haven't managed to wipe the memory of Jimmy Saville talking about rinsing his underpants through every night to save on luggage. Sick

That is truly awful Badhead. But good timing as I was wondering whether to post my Louis T sketch. Might as well now eh?

I found his last programme v interesting. I won't say any more though as very contentious subject matter.
