I have been writing and re-drafting a comedy drama called 'Pat & Lyn' about two friends who work at a service station and who spend a lot of time bickering about the donation of a kidney and I have a good 15 minute script written for TV but I'm thinking of adapting it for radio as a 15 minute pilot script for it hopefully to develop into a possible series of five or six episodes which last for 15 minutes. I've been listening to a few radio shows on BBC Radio 4 & 7 which are comedies and are 15 minutes long such as 'Knocker', 'Ladies of Letters' and 'Faust'. Has anybody tried sending in a 15 minute radio comedy/drama?
15 Minute Comedies on BBC Radio 4 & 7
I haven't but I would like to try one. I think writing a 15 minute show would be a good step especially for a new writter because commissioners would see it as being less risky than a 30 minute show.

I agree that it would be less of a risk and also I think there's a market for 15 minute programmes on the radio.
I feel a 15 minute programme would work far better for me anyway due to my characters origins being from sketches rather then from a 30 minute programme.
Hmmm that's a good idea, I've never considered writing a 15 min sitcom but it would be much more likly to be made.
Where would you send the script to? Writers room?

Yeah I would send it to The Writersroom.

Good point there, I've never tried a radio script but think I'm going to have a go.
I know very little about radio sitcoms, all I know is they are easier to get commisioned - easier being used loosely.
This has sparked my interest though, isn't radio 4 for old farty sitcoms? And BBC 7 for the younger crowd? If the latter is true I have an idea for a 15 minute sitcom!
Sorry but... Bump...
Not what I thought, no.
