I might even get round to sending this to News Revue before their deadline, for a change.
To the tune of The Mexican Hat Dance by Allan Sherman (http://www.rhapsody.com/allan-sherman/my-son-the-celebrity/mexican-hat-dance/lyrics.html if you are interested)
We've had Sars and ebola and bird flu
So many health scares to get used to
But if pigs cannot fly how come swine flew
And the Mexicans all must wear masks?
The news talks it up as a pandemic
Going over the top is systemic
But we don't do a thing to condemn it
While the Mexicans still wear their masks
(Atchoo!)
There's no doubt that this illness is tragic
It's certainly able to kill
But the scale of the problem
Soon gets forgotten
Whenever there's papers to fill
So take care! So beware!
Is the message they shout
Makes us scared to go out
Though the bogeyman's not really there
So don't let such low risk impede ya
Just remember the lies of the media
Can't compete with what's on Wikipedia
Are the Mexicans still wearing masks?
(Atchoo!)
END
Now I've got to hope it doesn't turn out to be the one health scare story that justifies the news coverage.
