Anyway- I've just checked the Radio Times and tonight's episodes AREN'T classed as repeats.
My Family - Series 9 Page 3
The Series 8 thread is re-open now Jack. Cheers.
As for tonight's episodes, I've not seen them yet but they did sound new. I bet many people missed them though as lots of places - including the BBC's own website - added the repeat tag to the listings.
As can be seen from our episode guides, the 100th episode is coming up soon. I've yet to see any fanfare about this though.
Yes, two brand new episodes very oddly joined as one, with one set of closing credits, two sets of opening titles, but no trailer break. And no publicity. Odd. Very, very odd.
Oh, and it was listed as a single hour-long repeat in my TV guide.
Any idea why they did that to My Family? It hasn't runined the show but it's just a little odd.
The show is going down hill. I used to love this, but is rapidly running out of quality material.
The dead uncle one was quite good though!
Yeah I agree the episode was brilliant. I had lots of laughs out of that. Normally a show as long running as this would sag a bit but its gettting better over time so no doubt they will be another series in the works.

I was only joking, I was a bit cheesed off on Sunday, so I was in a sarcastic mood.
Anyway, does anyone know about My Family Christmas Specials DVD status. I do believe the 2002,2003,2004 and 2005 Specials were released on one DVD a few years ago, does anybody know anything about the DVD status of the 2006,2007 and 2008 specials?
They will almost certainly be released in a 'Christmas Specials Volume 2' set.
I don't think it's that surprising the quality has dropped off in recent years. They have had to come up with 50+ hours of jokes and adventures for the characters now.
Although some modern episodes are tedious - it can still pull out a rather good episode now and again. For example I thought the latest episode (the one with Ben trying to get his new suit off a corpse) was great... particularly the final gag just before the credits rolled.
I still haven't quite worked out why they put those two episodes on a Sunday - it was like they were trying to get the sitcom out-the-way and finished quickly for some reason.
I'm not sure the BBC Press Office have realised the 100th episode is coming up either - you'd think they'd flag that fact in the schedules (fan or not, reaching that milestone has got be admired... I think that puts the show in about 7th spot in the longest-running British sitcoms list)
Will they repeat Sunday's episodes or not? Surely they realised everyone thought it was a repeat?
Edited by Aaron.
Yes, they'll repeat it. When? Anyone's guess.
There's about 3 basic types of jokes in this show:
1. Husband and wives hate and complaint jokes between Ben and Susan
2. Criticism of the children, especially of Nick
3. Susan's bad cooking
....and they have all been milked and beaten to death.
But it's still entertaining.

I agree. I think this series has perked up a bit. It's back on a bit of form just in time for its 100th episode.
I just saw John Barrowman on My Family today (I missed it yesterday , just watching it now). This might be old news as you guys may have seen it yesterday.
