Lake Titicaca has to be my favourite place name as it's both boobies and poo.
In terms of Commie names, I always liked Gdansk, though I always say it like a DJ would say Dance! Come on everybody, get on the floor and Gdansk!
Hamburg's a nice place with good beer. Although most of Hamburg is only 50 or 60 years old, owing to British rearrangement of their architecture when the infamous 'rubble-style' was in vogue in the 1940s.
Prague's a good bet. Cheap to get to and stay, and if you avoid the tourist traps you can still get a bloody good pint for about 50p. It's not in the Eurozone either. At least it wasn't two years ago. Its a very pretty city too, if you like that kind of thing.
Just got back from Sofia in Bulgaria a couple of weeks ago. The only thing I'd recommend it for is a bit of the Hamburg-treatment mentioned above.
