British Comedy Guide

Let's go. Quick! before it changes.

So President Obama has relaxed travel restrictions so individuals can visit their relatives in Cuba. But it's just a matter of time.

Have you been to Cuba? Did you like it? Does your heart sink (like mine) with the realisation that it will change soon, and that the country that time forgot will soon be awash with Starbucks, McDonald's, GAP and loud Americans?* etc.

*Please don't shoot me, I like Americans-some of my favourite relatives, TV shows and films are American(s).

But, well, y'know, it'll never be the same. :(**

:) That said I'm sure all those qualified Doctors and other professionals would be relieved that their earnings will no longer be on par with cleaners.

I have no desire to to go to Cuba. Too many Europeans ...

Having spent most of my life in south Florida, I know that I can just pop over to Miami or Ybor City if I want a taste of Cuba.

I hear you, Dabutt but gettting a taste of Cuban life in Florida isn't as authentic as Cuba itself.

That answer would cut no ice if your plane was hijacked.

Let's play nicely.

Let's play nicely.

Neither would that one.

Havana good time, Morrace?

Laughing out loud

Anyway I'm thinking of getting one last visit in before it does change.

This story says that all the talk may be a bit premature:

Oooh Castro speaks! I was convinced the old man had carked it.

What do you think?

It is sad yes, America throwing their weight around and bullying the rest of us into submission. I felt the same last year with Asia, they are all awashed with your chain outlets and are destroying the culture, all to make money.

I know, but I'd rather not pay some sketchy guide to make me walk through elephant dung in order to see a few elephants in Africa when I can just drive 15 miles to the zoo and see them in comfort.

Translation:

Sketchy guide: Those scummy Castro brothers
Elephant dung: The failed socialist state
Elephants: Mojitos and fried plantains
Zoo: Miami

I don't go there for the fried plantain, I can get them in Brixton. Their Mojitos are to die for but then again I don't go there for the drinks, I go for the ambiance*

I haven't been to Miami so I couldn't possibly comment on whether it's like a zoo or not. However seeing as you likened it to a zoo, you do know that Safaris are much more authentic when it comes to viewing 'animals', right?

*I hate that word but it's the only one I could think of. :)

That makes you an ambiance chaser.
