My dilemma is that I have THREE sitcoms. 1 post watershed, 1 mid-range and 1 pre-watershed.
Now the brief says "make us laugh" and "send us your best work" but the PRE-watershed sitcom conforms to all the BBC1 type sitcom requirements.
Do I send a LOL mad post-watershed sitcom (a la Bottom) (that is very mad and purposely unrealistic sometimes) or a warm cosy titter-laugh (with less big LOL moments) just-what-BBC-are-looking-for * pre-watershed sitcom? (a la My Family with a twist) (which a lot of viewers will relate too)
Obviously no one's going to answer my question. I have to make the decision myself, but it's still a dilemma nonetheless.
* = Not saying this is ALL BBC are looking for. I'm just saying the demographics would probably be the same as the My Family or The Old Guys crowd.....
... but other demographics would also watch it because of the BIG twist (which, sorry, I cannot reveal!)
I'll answer: Send whichever you think is best. You're not submitting the work you'll actually be developing if accepted on the course. This is merely to guage your skills and sense of humour. You clearly want to send your post-watershed sitcom, so that's all there is to it.

Thanks Aaron. Exactly. At this stage is seeing who is the funniest and most original. The script to develop under the scheme is to be discussed with the successful candidates.

If I were you, I'd send the one which gives you the greatest chance of being picked for the scheme.

Well, my application's been sent. I didn't get an automated reply so I hope it's not lost in the ether. Shall now spend the next few weeks on tenterhooks.
The automated reply seems to be a bit sporadic at present - we're trying to sort it out. Everything seems to be getting through, but email the college address if you want to double check.

As a result, this year will be more rigorous in some areas, with strict script deadlines and parameters for how many characters and settings the scripts should involve.
I think I should have sent a sitcom?
Not at all - everyone last year wanted to do narrative,even though some had submitted sketches, but sketches are absolutely fine both as a submission and as a college project.
