How to get the equipment for free?

I've decided to film my script.

I have made a list of a few places that rent camera and production equipment. It's very expensive to rent. I've always believed that you can get anything for free if you try hard enough.

What do you think would be my best angle at renting this equipment for free?

If you get media students involved they can put the experience on their CV and you can get free equipment hire from the University. Well, I suppose it would cost you a round of drinks at the end and there is the hassle dealing with students but if you can put up with it, it might be worth exploring.

I just hope you don't have any morning scenes to shoot.

Go to networking events. Meet people. Get pally with directors/producers and show them your wonderful script. If it's good enough and you're friendly enough they might just want to shoot something with you.
