Yeah. If you're keyboardly challenged you can write 'ss' instead of ß.
It's pronounced without an r at the end. That would be 'Scheißer', someone who shits. Only used in the term 'kleiner Scheißer', mostly for children. Derogatively, I assume.
'Scheiße' used to be the catch-all swearword in German, but is now slowly being replaced by 'f**k', funnily.
BTW, I'm watching The Thick of It at the moment. I'd so love to translate that.

Haben sie Haustieren? Fur mich, Ich habe eine Ratte, er heiszt Wedge Antilles II. Miene Mutter hat ein zeimlich gross Spaniel heiszt Alfie, aber ich hab ihn 'ZweiGesicht' benammt. Das schmach mein mutter nicht gern, gluabe das ZweiGesicht ein mehr interessantes Namme ist.
