Apple Mac Laptop vs. PC Laptop Page 2

Don't get me started we are using the same machines you use OS X I use windows. Thats the difference.

Like I said, the best part about Macs is the operating system.

I used to find myself reloading Windows every 6 months or so because it would start running like shit and crashing for no apparent reason. My oldest Mac is still running the same OS X installation that it shipped with in 2005. No virus or spyware fiddling, no "Genuine Advantage" to fool around with ...

give it time DaButt viruses are increasing with Macs as they are getting more popular.

Just bought my first Mac - a Macbook Pro. Had used Microsoft based machines for many years prior - going back to early DOS machines. I did partition the drive to be able to boot into either OSX or Windows - but frankly I've had little need to use Windows (Vista) - I can do everything I need to do in OSX.

I really like the boot speed - I'm up and working very quickly - conversely it shuts down with little fuss, unlike Windows which makes a big song and dance about it. It's somewhat hard to describe, but in Windows you kind of feel too close to the code - strange messages from the operating system etc. The MAC just feels more functional and intuitive, once you get the hang of the different user interface.

Lastly - it really is a cool piece of design.

That, as they say, is my two cents on the subject.

Over and out.

Macs Operating system is similar to the point of court ordders to the Amiga ones which I loved.

The reason there are more viruses etc for Windows machines..bcuase more people have them, that's all whats the point disrupting 15% of the population when you can get 70% (random figures I made up)

Any ways. It doesn't matter what machine you get it'll crash and you'll either get dumpprep or the gay rainbow wheel of death. Computers are still a bit shit :D

Interesting that a 'serious' software developer would move to a totally different OS. Doesn't sound that serious at all.

I'm talking about guys who have created companies and software worth many millions of dollars. Serious heavy hitters in the industry.

Very true. Piece of crap.

You're painting a picture of yourself as quite a poor user then. I've never had any problems with my machines, either Windows (any version) or Ubuntu.

DaButt Hackers use Macs because the security encryptions on Microsoft is too good!

I almost choked on my beer!

$999 is daylight robbery, my laptop cost £350 and it's very good

Does it have a Core 2 Duo processor, built-in Bluetooth, built-in webcam, etc? Like I said, Macs are expensive because they're built with the best parts money can buy. And time after time the benchmarks show that the fastest machine to run Windows is actually a Mac.

Cheap PCs have their place and that's why Apple will probably release a netbook before long. For anyone considering switching, it may not be legal, but some of the cheap netbooks (like the Dell Mini 9) can run OS X very well. The machines are $300 or less here in the States.

Right. So, are they still developing themselves, and whoever the developers are, what machines are they using? And what systems are they targetting with their apps?

I haven't used Vista before SP1 and now I am it's pretty good actually I have stripped the services and features it's running pretty fine, I must admit it's a little resource hungry still which is annoying but the hardwares easily keeping up it's using 30% of my ram idle (I have 3GB of RAM).

Prezunctly.

Thats not strictly true they but mid range components at best, not ultra cheap tat like the Centrinos :D Self build FTW

Agreed. Some are just little things like the magnetic power cord. It's saved my ass (and my laptop) many times in airports when some little brat runs past and trips over the cord. I've lost a Dell laptop in the past due to a similar scenario.
