Baby Cow

Hi

Has anyone submitted anything to Baby Cow?

I have just sent a second submission to the Writersroom and am awaiting (hopefully) some good feedback like my first time.

I was looking on the Baby Cow site and it says to send a 10 page extract from a script with a synopsis. I was wondering if anyone had done this and if I could get some advice on whether to just send the 1st 10 pages or something else?

Thanks for any advice given guys.

P.S. does anyone know of anywhere else that will accept unsolicited scripts?

:)

Yeah, like it says, just send the first ten pages, if that interests them they will get back in touch and ask to see the full script. So make sure those first ten pages grab their attention!

Thanks for the advice.

I submitted my first script to BabyCow and I followed their rules exactly. The guy there, John Hill was quite nice and approachable but it still took 6 months to get the script read.

Regarding other ways to get your script infront our production companies, there is a website called Literary Showcase that I know of. The idea is that you upload a script sample and synopsis and then production companies can look at your work and take it further as necessary. It has quite a list of prod co's and publishers with some big players too like talkback, Endermol and Angeleye.

Here's a link if this is of interest:

Def.

Yeah, when you're just sending stuff to that general e-mail, it can take them a long time to get back to you; but then what do you expect? Can you imagine how many scripts a company like Baby Cow must recieve every month?! I wouldn't want the job of slogging through that pile.

I would actually. For a while at least. It would be interesting to see all the different types of things that get sent in and the fact you get to make decisions on what to bin and what to take forward to a full script read.

Yep ive sent to Baby Cow before. They seem a really good and helpful company. One of the producers that works there seems a good man.

That looks like an interesting site, though I'm sure more people would be willing to part with their money if there was some sort of results page, letting people know of certain writers that have been contacted by producers interested in what they have read.

Myself and my co-writer are about send a pilot script to the Writersroom and Baby Cow. Also we have shot the pilot to a pretty professional standard would it be a good or a bad idea to send that off with the script. I know that Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant did this with 'The Office'.

Depends really, you may think it's amazing, but what do others think? Have you had unbiased feedback? Because if it's actually a bit ropey it could seriously damage your chances. Then again, if it's good, then it could seriously help your chances! I suppose you just have to be absolutely honest with yourself, and have others be so to.

Well we are in post-production with it now and it is to be screened at Exeter Picture House in July so it's going to be a broadcastable standard for the public to see.

Avalon are another one that I found quite helpful so far. I sent over my script and the girl got back to me very quickly indeed. Might be worth a shot?

Thanks. I send it to Avalon to. Just reading on the Baby Cow website that they say "If you have your ideas filmed on DVD or VHS please also send them in".

Like I said, if it really is good, then do send it along.
