Sitcom idea or just sad

People say you should write what you know about.
How's this for a Sitcom idea?
A man 45 years old single father who brought up four daughters 24,25,26 and 27 a Nurse, Model, Architect (nearly) and a lay-about. All are quite pretty but he can't get any of them married off because they all scare the crap out of men. Seems as though their only goal in life is to create problems for their estranged father, which they do a lot! The father is a bit of a nob and his efforts to 'sort problems' often backfires into comical situations mostly escalating to the totally absurd.

To complicate matters the father has a beautiful and intelligent 25 year old girlfriend who he has lived with for 6 year years and they have a 2 year old. This girlfriend works as a child psychologist and enjoys constantly psycho analyzing the man who is totally convinced she is only with him because he is an excellent case study for her PhD work. When all 5 women are together ganging up on him he seems to transform into a sort of Basil Fawlty type character. He is always having great ideas and cunning plans which everybody except for himself realise are really stupid.

Now I really, really don't think this is funny, and not a base for a Sitcom (because this is my life).
My friends keep telling me my life is hilarious though.
What do you think Sitcom material or just sad?

Anything is sitcom material if you can come up with the situations and dialogue I suppose.

Sounds brilliant. :D

Couple of questions:

1. Where's the mother of his older daughters?
2. Are the older daughters living with him as well?
3. Why does he have to marry them off?

1. Where's the mother of his older daughters?
2. Are the older daughters living with him as well?
3. Why does he have to marry them off?

1. She left just after the youngest was born, probably too scared of getting knocked up the duff again Laughing out loud
2. No but they are always hanging around causing trouble, fighting or talking about womens 'stuff', things that no man should ever be forced to listen to.
3. So that some other poor sods can claim responsibility for them, or more likely because he needs an ally in a sea of women.

Reminds me a little of the ITV sitcom - Babes In The Wood.

I'd watch that!

Your girlfriend is the same age as your daughters? That must have been a bit dodgy at first.

more than a bit dodgy, but not as dodgy as meeting the parents.
Could make that one into a film, a horror film.

Sounds interesting :)

and 'cos it's what you know I'm sure you'll have endless ideas.

Why not!

I see potential there!

Don't know who said, but everyone's got at least one good story in them, so go for it.

Just be careful you don't upset any of your daughters - especially the one you call a 'lay-about'. :)

Heh, yes I thought that.
And they're all 'quite pretty'.
Cheers dad. ;)
