Jupitus On Torture Porn Page 7

At the time I replied, the thread was discussing porn, and violence.

Aw, come on, you're our resident porn expert, we need your input! (so to speak)

Although I do think if young boys watch a lot of porn ('normal' porn, not even the weird stuff), before they actually have sex, they are going to have some really unhealthy and weird expectations, of the act itself and of what the women will look like/behave like.

I wonder how many boys have learned the hard way that every encounter doesn't end with the girl's face dripping with you-know-what.

Oh gawd.

as a species we are warlike and destructive against anything that intrudes on our social group. The bigger problem is that some of us are just warlike and destructive full stop.

We would like to believe that we are all lovely caring people and the worlds ills are caused by a very few who have been tainted somehow. My belief is that this notion is wrong. We are not all loving but a mix of people with various mixtures of both good and bad traits. In some the good outweighs the bad and in others it is vice versa. Whether a persons behaviour trait is learnt or inherited is still widely debated.

Do I watch torture porn because I'm a psychopath or does it make me into a pyschopath?

Personally I reckon it exacerbates preexisting tendencies.

Definitely.

Heh.

Not necessarily. Depends on their attitude as a whole, and their relationships (platonic, famil..ial, not romantic).

To be honest, boys and men now have almost as much pressure put on them to look good. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/wales/3272011.stm

IIRC, a 14 year old boy (may have even been from Wales) died relatively recently after using steroids for that exact reason.

Maybe, maybe.
I'm just assuming that young boys watch a bit more porn online than young girls. Although I'm sure they're all at it, the dirty litle f**kers.

Didn't you watch that sex education show the other week?

Quote: chipolata @ April 16 2009, 4:47 PM BST

It's not neccessarily porn. Young girls drooling over boybands or premier ship footballers puts increased pressure on young men to look good. Hell, some might find a woman rhapsodising over Mister Tennant puts unrealistic pressure on them. I'm just saying, the pressure to look good cuts both ways, and doesn't always emanate from pornography.

Definitely.

Heh. Hard way.

Well, I think if that's their main source of sexual information (which let's face it, it probably will be) then it can't help but have an effect.

It's fine for adults to watch porn, they know it's not factual, they can separate out fantasy and reality. Most of the time anyway.

Well how old are we talking that they don't know it's not factual?

Mental age comes into it as well!

The only problem is that those that frequently use porn of any age need stronger and stronger images to turn them on - and that's been proven.

chipolata is a living case in point.

A fertile imagination and a strong right hand is what's required. Why limit yourself to impossible images on screen when you can go with whoever you want in your head? From Lily Allen to Jessica Rabbit. Sometimes both.

With Jessica Rabbit, I took the red pill and her rabbit-hole went on forever!

There was a woman like that on Embarrassing Illnesses last night. :)

Many a true word, etc.

I don't think that people who like watching films like Saw would like to see similar things happen in person. Films are all make believe after all.

Yes, we think we're desensitised, but if we see any small amount of violence in real life we (well, I) get really shocked and upset.
I can see a brutal murder on TV and just feel a bit nauseous, but if I even see a kid getting smacked in the supermarket I go all wide eyed and disturbed.
Things are completely different in real life.
