I don't think it's just the rejection or personal comments but there are other impending concerns.
I'm sure she'll be back - and she'll hate me for making excuses for her!

"The desire to quit is strongest just before a successful breakthrough."
The rejection letters and no-replies can be tiresome and they feed one's doubts, but when I think of quitting, I see a dull, dead future of being nothing but a consumer and spectator. F**k that with a gnarled leg bone.
Still, if the lack of success is making you miserable on an hourly basis, and you don't have a push from within to stay the course, then by all means cut the ties and drift off to somewhere else.
What the heck did I miss? I've been mighty busy over the last few weeks and not on the forum as much as I'd like. This is a surprise of the unpleasant variety.
Your stuff is funny Charley. Why stop? Write some more... post it... revel in the fact that it makes people laugh... and that it probably gets up some peoples' noses. Yayyy!
And as for the 'average' thing. What tripe! Most of us are probably exceedingly average... but you certainly aren't.
Hurry Back!
I've just had a chat with Charley and you'll be pleased to hear she is planning on returning. First though she will be spending some time with her son before he joins the army.
Rest assured this thread she started isn't to do with anything anyone has said or done. It's the result of a bit of alcohol and, I quote: "feeling sorry for myself and being a raving loony".
Hopefully Charley and her wit will be back with us soon.
A raving looney? Charley? Never!

Well, that's darn good news. As she's said elsewhere the army thing is worrying for her but she's got her priorities right concentrating on that. In the meantime it's going to be a bit quiet around here methinks!
Don't be sad. Everyone gets fed up sometimes in life. This is a good thing. If we didn't get fed up with our lives, we would never do anything. We would all live at home with our mums, eating cold beans out of the can, and working at that same supermarket that you got that saturday job at when you were 15 and they still won't let you use the bacon slicer. I got really fed up a few years ago. I was pushed into training for a career in acting which I never felt totally great about, surrounded by the world's most shallow people having to call them friends. I was very overweight and had a really bad lack of confidence in my looks, brains, and abilities which becomes worse when surrounded by stick thin backstabbing moo cows and the luvies that support them. I felt worthless to a point I made myself very ill. The turning point came when a part of me snapped and reacted in an extreme way....I dropped 8st, became an "art terrorist" and told my shallow friends that sharing a salad between 5 girls ISN'T NORMAL! I've been a performance artist which has given me experiences in life that some never get and I can see my toes.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not there yet. I still have a lack in confidence and I still don't know what to do with my life (apart from write random rubbish). I'm only 22 but I also know that even if I was 70, it doesn't matter. I live by this rule....
"You are whoever you want to be. Don't let anything stop you or trick you into anything else. Good things happen to good people - that is karma's way of dealing with the arseholes."
It's always good in lil' Red Ruby's hood!
22 eh? "sniffs around*. Ellie who?
