Not Going Out - Series 3 Page 67

You know, sometimes viewing figures and popularity of a show don't really matter. If a commissioner really hates a show it's doomed however well it's doing. Or so I hear anyway. Obviously I'm not saying that's definitely the case with NGO.

Or sometimes it's down to a shift in power, where a new commissioner replaces an old one and wants to shake things up, and by that he or she has to get rid of existing slots to make way for his / her own.

It's all politics and beyond the comprehension of most of us mere mortals.

If a commissioner Jay Hunt really hates a show After You've Gone it's doomed however well it's doing.

I see that Points Of View are having a comedy-and-news special next week. Get e-mailing with your complaints, folks.

What's the address? They'll get a bombardment of complaints from here, I'm sure.

Looks like this is now their website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006mysv

Presented by Jeremy Vine....surely he wants Tim's sitcom back on the telly too!

Not that the petition has much of a chance of making a difference anyway, but 1385 signatures is nowhere near enough if we can think that maybe, just maybe it might actually be able to do something, so if you haven't already, get your name on to that thing.

Good observation! Maybe Vine initiated the episode himself.

Oh well, if they have no luck getting a new series then I'd love to see a spin-off- "The Adventures of Lee and Tim" :P or something like that! It would be a pity not to see them pair up again.

Unless the BBC use that as a 'reason' to not allow them to discuss NGO on POV of course...

"The Adventures of Lee and Tim"

I'd watch that! :)

I don't see what all the fuss is about. The show was terrible! Probably one of the worst sitcoms in the last ten years, and it was simply aching to be an American programme. I'm glad it's gone.

Hey guys,
I started the petition and I'm pleased with the numbers so far, averaging just under 100 a day, although slowing up a bit. If anyone has any contacts or has any ideas of where to publicise the petition please let me know, every little helps and I'm hoping to keep these numbers up. Even if its just telling friends and family, every little helps!
Thanks,
Vicki

Ah, but that's because - as repeatedly established - you have no sense of humour! ;)

Anyone else see Points Of View earlier?

BBC Comedy Head Mark Freeland did a poor job of trying to explain why Not Going Out was cancelled. In fact he dodged it. He also totally undermined his general argument with the statement "millions find Corden & Horne funny". Um... that duo's highest ratings: 817,000 (and most of them were probably watching just to see what it's like, rather than finding it funny). Less than a million does not equal millions Mark!
