The Scum Also Rises?

I'm trying to track down the pilot for a sitcom called: 'The Scum Also Rises' is stars Chris Barrie, Kevin Bishop and Adam Buxton. There's meant to be a DVD coming out on July 20th but I only remember seeing the pilot. Can anybody shed some light on this please?

Only the pilot has been broadcast so far James (late night on BBC Three in May 2007). The reason a DVD is scheduled is because the pilot was deemed a success and thus a full series will be appearing on TV in the next couple of months (no exact date yet... my guess is June).

The series was filmed in front of an audience nearly a year ago (which incidently was a change from the style of the pilot, which had no audience)... so it has taken quite a while to get to screen. Hopefully that is not a bad sign?!?

Bill Hicks called them Satan's Little Helpers. They're the flaky, shaky, fakey "creatives" who work in the advertising industry. Underworked and overpaid, they're the people who spend all day trying to spend all day trying to persuade you to buy stuff you don't want with money you don't have. They're scum!

But they're likeable scum. There's Billy, who's smart and funny and STILL works in advertising; uncontrollable urge-bag Keaton who is possibly evil but undeniably crazed; ambitious, neurotic, spoiled Emma; and hopeless, witless, feckless Greg. Their boss, Satan herself, is addled, raddled agency boss Mrs Broom, who LOVES to hire and fire, sometimes doing both to the same people in the same meeting.

Where to download the pilot from though I don't know - but I'm sure it must be on the internet somewhere?

Aaron Might be able to get you a *cough cough* copy...

What channel will the series appear on and will Chris Barrie be reprising his role?

BBC2 I think. I read Ian Lee has taken over that role. And to be honest, I never saw anything worthy in the show except for Adam Buxton.

With it taking so long to get on screen, does it mean it's really bad?

By the way, Mark, do you have any other info on the show?

Not necessarily... perhaps there is another reason, but shows that are delayed for so long, in the main, do tend to have been sitting on a shelf because they're poor. (For example, ITV1 keep shifting Mumbai Calling back and back. I think they're scared to show it. The full series is not a patch on the pilot from what I've seen)

Back to The Scum Also Rises:

Sadly no. Except that, the four main cast members would appear to be Kevin Bishop; Adam Buxton; Iain Lee and Daisy Haggard... so Chris Barrie would indeed appear to be out the show (yet he is listed on Amazon... so either the pilot is on the DVD, or my info about the full series is wrong).

Chris Barrie does not appear in the series.

It will also not be called The Scum Also Rises.

(Also, thread moved.)

What's it about?

Oh, I am so confused about what is happening with The Scum Also Rises now... there's tickets to new recordings in June and July 2009 on this website. It can't be a second series, before the first has even aired can it? There was definitely production on the sitcom in 2008.

Blimey. That's ... odd. Very odd. There is history of commissioning before broadcast though; Chalk was such a huge success at the studio recordings that they ordered S2 before the first had aired. Might have even been before the first had finished filming. Really very weird.
