I have results from one judge so far - will reveal all in due course.

If we do it again I think it should be open to other people too if they're interested! The thread was only up for about two days before we picked teams.

The speed made it fun so I'd say pass it on to whoever's around to add to it at the time, decide on an optimum number and alternate contributors between team A and B. But I agree about having different people start and end - just to shake it up a bit.

Or am I getting too technical?

Might be fun if we did it again for both teams to start with the same initial sketch, and see what different directions it goes in...

The lines have now closed. The votes have been counted and verified.

And I can now reveal that the winner of the first British Chinese Sketch X Factor Writing Got Talent Competition is..... drum roll....

Empire Ignite

Congratulations to you all with special mention to our almost as talented non winners who also did a great job.

It was unanimous decision but all three judges said nice things about them both which is more than I'd hoped for!

Oh I can now reveal that our lovely, generous judges were, in alphabetical order:

who said the following (in no particular order):

"My vote goes to Sketch One. It was tighter, and more visual. Sketch two would have been cheaper to film but it was wordier with fewer bangs per buck. Mornington Crescent. "

"Team Ignite's got my vote. Both were very good but I found that TI's was more consistent in its funny. TR's was entertaining throughout, but only really picked up towards the end. Quite a slow burner. If it was revisited by the writers I'm sure they could find a killer punchline to reward for the steady buildup through the rest of the sketch."

"Both very good sketches and like you say very similar in angle. I give Team Ignite 8 points and Team Renaissance 7 points. I felt the Empire Ignite sketch had a stronger punchline than the Team Renaissance one. I liked the Curb quote in the TR sketch - but not sure about linking to Peter Kay and not having punchlines? I kept thinking the 'doorwayman' was a highwayman and getting excited and then realising it wasn't...

But a very interesting exercise and the two could be combined into a running sketch."

Not since the heady days of Blankety Blank have we seen such colossi.

Hooray for everyone just like the Special Olympics we're all winners, but some of us are more retarded than others.

Now we did 3 top notch sketches in 2 days.

If we can repeat this for 20 weeks we'll have a script for an hour long show.

What do people think?

Well done. I enjoyed partaking in this.

Did very much like Empire Ignite's sketch, very visual and punchy, though of course TR's would be more practical to make.

Judges comments fair and I can't argue with what they said (well, I won't anyway )

Agree with the idea of the non-contributing editor being useful to tidy it all up.

Seems everyone including myself enjoyed doing this and is raring to go for another challenge.

Spot on sooty, we could definitely get a really good sketch show out of a running contest for sure..and should others want to get involved, could break it up into more than 2 teams, perhaps?

Three sketches Sooty?

People seem very keen to continue which is great although I thought we'd have a little rest first! A weekly thing sounds good as Sooty suggested. Shall we start getting names of who's interested in a second try and start Friday again?

I'm happy to carry on being involved and for us to build up a stock of sketches if it works, but only if it's a proper co-operative - each sketch jointly owned by it's contributors - majority rules and all that. Otherwise it could all get quite complicated.

And in that spirit as I took the lead initially how about if someone else does this time and makes decision re teams/ themes etc? But if no-one wants to I'm happy to carry on being bossy. Actually the winning team should get some say shouldn't they?

Why not continue Jane? seems only fair as it was your intial idea and it's certainly taken off. Either way, I am down and looking forward to the next one.

I would suggest that, for the time being at least, we should just look at this as being fun and something of a learning exercise, and not get hung up on setting up a sketch production line.

To be honest I am wondering if we should maybe be a little concerned that the two sketches ended up mining the same close-to-home territory. It would be interesting to see how the collaboration process works with a different initial premise.

Maybe like the sketch contest we pick a subject at random?
Maybe the front page of the Sun on Saturday.
And let's do it for fun, but save all the sketches and surprise ourselves with where we're at in 6 months.

I think the two sketches were similar because the original writers thought perhaps a parody of this very board was needed.

I can't see two similar ideas popping up every week.

I really enjoyed it and would like to sign up for next time too.

I agree about not pressurising it too much in terms of creating a show but we could keep a stash and revisit it in a few months.

Of course, then we'd have plenty of time to tidy it up for Edinburgh
