The last I heard they were hoping to have a new album out June-ish. They're gearing up for a lot of touring, but so far the only UK date I see is August 23rd at the Green Man Festival. I think it's in Wales?

It is in Wales, unfortunately. Hopefully they'll do a tour here for the new album. They'll have to take in London so getting tickets won't be a problem for me. I actually really look forward to seeing them live one day, I've already insisted to my friends that we're going if we get the chance. :D

I think your friends will thank you. I know I'm not a disinterested bystander, but they really are the most talented group of musicians in business these days. Their shows always impress.

Evelyn Glennie. But before she was famous. Does that count? If not then I've seen lots of falling stars. But I didn't put them in my pocket to never let them fade away.

Why were you at such an event age ... 16? 17? Sounds like it should be VIPs only anyway.

Because I knew the band The Others pretty well I got invited to a video shoot for one of their singles which was the day before the NME awards, then as a kind of thank you for going there we got to spend the day of the NME awards in the pub next to the venue (where The Others performed a gig, in the middle of which Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who were hosting the NME awards, came into the pub and gave the band their award). We then got tickets to the awards afterparty which wasn't as cool as it sounded, most of the celebrities had left to go to their own private parties I think. Did see Simon Pegg and Nick Frost there but didn't speak to them. My friend smoked a joint and got some photos with Goldie Lookin' Chain though haha. I was only 16 yeah, somehow I didn't get ID'd the whole day but I never tried to buy any drinks.

Is he Welsh?

Haha!

River Phoenix

Well good list, especially River Phoenix!

I once met Rik Myall but he was coked out of his head and a bit full of himself. I also met Lionel Blair once - he was a really nice guy.

I was at the same party as Bryan Adams years ago, but I didn't know it was him until afterwards - I was too busy staring at his stunning 6ft girlfriend. He looked like an oily midget in comparison.

My favourite celebrity meeting though was with Kenneth Colley (Admiral Piett from The Empire Strikes Back). An actor friend of mine knew him and we went down the pub together. He's from the proper old school of Engish actors and had some amazing stories. Top bloke!

Oh and I've also met Matthew Stott, David Bussell and Ben from this forum - they're not famous yet, but they will be.

I interviewed James May and Oz Clarke for our paper when they broke down whilst filming their TV show.

I spoke to Robin Ince before one of his gigs for about 10mins. (hence the picture)

Interviewed Lesley Waters, the chef on ready steady cook!

Taken pictures of Prince Andrew, Julian Fellowes and Martin Clunes for work and spoke to them briefly, not the prince though.

Hopefully interviewing Billy Bragg soon.

I'm not sure on your definition of 'met' but if I manage a 'hello' I'm counting it!

Alan Titchmarsh (quite short) in a car park waiting to do a book signing in Petworth, where I also saw Jack Dee once.

Maggot out of Goldie Lookin Chain who I sat next to at a comedy thing when he was high on Big Brother fame, but still polite and friendly.

Ben Elton, my writing hero when I was young. I managed to see him a few times at book signings and after shows. He was always really nice and chatty.

I paid a pound to kiss Harry Enfield at a charity thing years ago - Shop Assistance in Covent Garden. It was great. Lots of famous people working in shops etc.

Marc Almond was there too. I loved that man and he could not look less interested in the photo I had taken with him.

'Vic Reeves' let a door shut in my face after one of their TV shows but Bob Mortimer held it open for me.

My dad loves Chas n Dave and I got their autograph for him in a pub after another TV show. A low point for me but dad was pleased.

I stayed at a Health Farm where Frank Bruno had a training facility – it was always odd seeing his huge frame at lunch surrounded by masses of women in dressing gowns. He's very loud!

There's another health farm down south where George Best spent a lot of time and was often at the juice bar waiting for friends to take him out.

And I waited ages to say hello to Alistair McGowan after a show. He was lovely and quite shy but I had to ask for Connie Fisher's autograph too. There weren't many of us waiting so it would have seemed rude not to. She was very friendly but it was a bit awkward – I had nothing to say and ended up mentioning a bad review for the show. Further proof, if needed, that I'm an idiot.

The one person I wish I'd met was Bill Hicks.

:)

His trainer was there too - he reminded me of the little guy who rides the bike while Sly Stallone does all the work in Rocky!

I see you're getting close to your 1000th post there SP. Better make it a good one!

Joan Sims, Barbara Windsor, Tony Wilson, far too many Big Brother inhabitants, Prince Charles, Olivia De Havilland, numerous Corrie and Hollyoaks 'stars'.. Probably more that I have forgotten.

A mix of class and crass there.

And Ernie Wise!! How could I forget litte Ern'?! I am ashamed..

Apart from one of the Gladiators when I was teeny.

I got Saracen's autograph when I went to see them at Wembley.

Ian Brown

Legend!

I was so close to meeting Joe Calzaghe in BBC Television Centre last year. I was there for an 8 Out of 10 Cats filming and it was the same day Jonathan Ross was being recorded. We were queueing across the compound waiting to go in one of the buildings and I saw Joe Calzaghe get out of a car and walk through the queue about 10-15 metres in front of me to go into the building. He's an absolute hero of mine, I was so gutted I wasn't further ahead in the queue so I could have shook his hand. Saw Danny Wallace talking on the phone then too but didn't say hello.

Ooo, I've forgotten Dave Gorman. I went to a book reading of 'America Unchained' in Stratford a while back, which was very good. Afterwards I went to the nearby Pizza Express with my then-girlfriend, and a while later Dave Gorman walks in. Couldn't resist a quick hello and congratulating him on a good talk as we were leaving. Seemed a very pleasant guy.

Half Man Half Biscuit.

That sounds like a channel 4 documentary!

I once shook Suggs by the hand.

Oh and Frank Skinner too!
