Respect agenda.

Is there enough respect or not enough?
What is respect and who's entitled to it?

Should kids respect teachers? If social workers had less respect for some parents would certain horrible things have happened?

Come on people what do you think?

I don't think respect is something you can legislate. It is something people gain from their actions. From my experiences, the good teachers in school were actually respected, even by the naughty and rude vagabonds. At university, there are some lecturers I respect, and others I do not, you can't hide behind a title.

Stick your question up your bum Sotty. Laughing out loud

How's that for some reespek cuz blud?

Everything trickles down from the top, so the more we see so called respected figures of authority acting in a dishonest and illegal way, the less respect for authority we have.

The level of trust towards the police, bankers, lawyers and especially politicians is at an all time low. Why? Because the perceived level of corruption is exacerbated by the media to the point of hysteria.

Oh yeah, and they're scum.

Oh (sock it to me, sock it to me,
sock it to me, sock it to me)
A little respect (sock it to me, sock it to me,
sock it to me, sock it to me)

Teachers seem to think they should automatically have respect, but they don't see a reason that they should earn it. Bastards.

A lot of society's faults are down to this basic problem though; people demanding respect when they either haven't earned it, or have earned the exact opposite.

Like the Royals. Respect? for being inbred spongers...unlikely biatch.

Pfffffft I wish, Kids don't respect teachers in the slightest anymore. How can a student learn if they don't respect the person teaching them? I don't think you really can.

Curt, that's exactly my point. The kids don't respect teachers because teachers expect it as some kind of divine right. Most don't even try to earn it. Teachers should treat the children under their care with respect, and they'd get it back. You could argue that a teacher is a figure of authority and so should be respected anyway, but 7 year olds (for example) don't have that reasoning. They may have fear depending on their upbringing, but they don't have that actual respect.

When I was at school we had to respect teachers or get caned for it.
There were some teachers for whom I held the highest respect, others I had to respect or suffer the consequences.
Lack of respect is the teacher's problem, not the child's.

I was being told off daily my first two weeks. I've been with them for 3 weeks now and most of the hate has stopped and they have actually been pretty nice to me and most downright friendly.

Are you enjoying teaching Curt?

"It ain't the way I wanted it! I can handle things! I'm smart! Not like everybody says... like dumb... I'm smart and I want respect! "

- Fredo Corleone. The Godfather, Part II. 1974.

It works both ways buddy. If a pupils is well behaved, polite and works hard they will get instant respect from their teacher unless he/she is a nob. However the hard arse who thinks they own the classroom and is out to disrupt will get zero respect and a f**king lot of hassle from me. Plus I have no interest in that child respecting me or not. I'm there to make sure those who want to work get the best from what I can give to them. Any pupil who stands in the way of that is going to have a miserable school experience in my class unless they change their ways. And some do.
