Promoting on line stuff. Advice?

Hi guys

I am currently trying to get a following for an online audio project I am working on called 'Need You Tonight'. There are six episode roughly ten minutes each about the last four people on earth stuck in a library- with some very experienced cast including Nadia Kamil from 'Spats'.
We are on facebook http://www.facebook.com/reqs.php#/profile.php?id=1586127961&ref=profile , twitter http://twitter.com/needu2nite and are going to start writing a blog. The first episode will be released a week on Sunday. Any ideas about how to get more people interested before then?

Might be worth getting the actors and crew to start Twitter accounts too even if for a short period of time so that they can let their followers know what's happening. I find it quite exciting to read posts from industry people who are actually on set for example. It gives the feeling of being there somehow.

If you have a blog that's great but add the links to all the other accounts too because it makes people feel involved. It also makes something feel bigger.

Yeah, bizarre and 'intriguing' messages put out might help. 'Help me, I'm stuck!' with a picture of a library. 'They're coming to get me!' with a picture of the spine of Tripods or The War of The Worlds posted randomly around with just a web address underneath may generate some 'WTF..?!' interest for it.

Do a YouTube trailer; a slideshow or vid of the recording, etc and fill it with soundbites, teaser sluglines, and (unlike some companies) put some of the funny parts into it.

Set up a simple website (should've been done a little earlier perhaps).

Put the first episode link into Crit, when it's out.

If you're sure it's funny, get it in the b3ta.com newsletter.

There's some really great advice here. :)

Paul. You should've really sorted out a website months ago, with info about the project.
That way, by now, it would've been in the search engines.

Plus you could've added a newsletter subscribe form to the site and built up a list of subscribers, which you could've kept informed about it.
The success of any launch is in the pre-hype.

By the way... are you the same Paul Campbell of Holby/Casualty/Doctors fame who writes the Scriptuality blog?

Echo Mikey. Talking of websites and pre-hype. Is there any chance, Paul, that you can delay the release date? If you can, and then get in the groundwork, it'll pay off for you more long-term.

And echo SlagA. :)

Maybe the current launch date could show only a teasing snippet.

"coming soon."

No, I take your point about the website but postoning it sadly isn't an option. There are a lot of people including industry people who have been told the 12th. This date has been set in stone for a while.

Have now enquired about doing this. Cheers. Any other good newsletters anyone would recommend us appearing in?

One bit of advice I am also in search for but can't find on facebook is how to change a normal facebook account into a page. Anyone know?

You create a separate "fan page," from your current FB account (although not sure how it's done) then link that Page to your Profile by becoming a "fan" of it.

Are you Scriptuality's Paul Campbell?

Get people you know to plug it on blogs and things, give them bits of it for people to listen to though cos otherwise readers'll just forget it.

I find it can be pretty difficult to promote stuff online if you don't have a set plan.

by the way I am not the Paul Campbell you speak of. Though I got that asked the other day by someone I went to uni with and told them that I was and so people who I went to uni with are now reasonably impressed with me. Anyway, hope you can all listen to the first ep.
