Mathew Horne collapsed on stage today

I wasn't sure whether to post this or not but as it's in the news already and before newspapers start making stuff up...

I had some free time in London this afternoon so bought a half price ticket to the matinee of Entertaining Mr Sloane.  All was going well until half way through the second act when Matthew fell on the floor!

It almost seemed in context until Simon Paisley Day said to the audience something was wrong.  There were no curtains to give him privacy but we were told not to leave either.

He was obviously breathing though and seemed to be talking a bit although he had his back to us.  So hopefully it's nothing serious.

I did think some of the lines in the second half were being fluffed a little bit (but it was still a great show).  Imelda Staunton came out very upset and kept apologising and saying she'd been ill as well.

They did the classic 'Is there a Doctor in the house?' moment.  There really didn't seem to be anyone to take proper charge though.

I hope he's OK.

I was wondering what to put for my 100th post but didn't want it to be quite so dramatic.

There was.

It was horrible sitting there watching though. I kept wondering why they didn't carry him off somewhere private. It was health and safety gone mad... But they waited until the ambulance arrived and the paramedics had to get on stage with a step ladder.

I can only guess but I'd like to think it's a virus type thing combined with the heat in there and tight leather trousers he has to wear. I don't think he actually passed out.

No one knew what to do though, apart from the usual idiots who took photos and videos on their phones... I suppose they'll be on YouTube later.

Reading that article, I love that Twitter has now started being used in these things. 'He was fine earlier, he was posting up until the afternoon!', etc.

It must have been fun to hear someone actually say "Is there a doctor in the house?" too.

Other than that, not a very pleasant experience though, I'm sure.

Could've been worse.

That bit was quite surreal yes. If it had been one of those 'modern' plays we'd have assumed it was all part of the act and carried on eating our ice creams while we watched.

Shit, hope he's okay. Seems a genuine nice guy.

From what you've all been saying it was obvious Twitter would have the answers! So I had a quick look and the first 'tweet' I saw was Rob Brydon saying he's heard he's OK - probably just 'exhausted'. Rob's sent him a text but 'obviously they can't have mobile phones in hospital'. I thought they could now?

I've also just realised I've been spelling his name wrong it's Mathew which always looks wrong to me.

I was thinking earlier it was a good job it didn't happen in the first act where he is mostly without his trousers and Imelda is (as good as) naked! But he would have been admitted to hospital in his leather outfit on a sunny afternoon.

At least it sounds like he might be up and twittering again soon.
