You do realise he's the man behind Love Actually, don't you Lee?

And Blackadder, to be fair.
And The Vicar of Dibley

And Notting Hill.
I wanted to include Rob Brydon, but he just can't go on the list with Peter Cook.
I see someone has nominated Frankie Howerd- I concur. But I also liked Kenneth Williams, Joan Sims, Sid James... I think Talbot Rothwell should take their place.
How about Peter Ustinov? His 'Audience With..' was particularly excellent.

I really liked Love Actually, actually love!
There's also Blackadder, Dibley, Mr Bean, The Tall Guy, 4 Weddings, Bridget Jones, Notting Hill, Spitting Image, plus he's the founder of Comic Relief.
A GOD I tells ya!

Yes, 'twas I. It's his way with the audience that I love - the little pauses and sly glances after an innuendo. Or when he points to someone in the audience and says "Shut your face, mush!"
1. Tony Hancock
2. Galton & Simpson
3. Monty Python
4. Laurel & Hardy
5. Spike Milligan
Nothing post early 70s but in establishing genres of comedy nothing of note would exist without these guys in my view.

Hmm . . . I think out of that list I'd only take Blackadder (obviously) and Mr Bean; you can shove the Bridget Jones movies up yer bum!!

Ah, Lee I wondered if there was another bloke out there that liked that stuff. Sentimental nonsense I know but does give a warm fuzzy feeling too.

"Mush"? I don't think I've ever heard him say that.
Spike Milligan
Graham Linehan
Ronnie Barker
Peter Cook
Monty Python

I blubbed like a fool at the end of Love Actually, the scene at the airport when everyone's hugging to the Beach Boys. (God I've just remembered, I was in the cinema too. Desperately embarrassing)
Fast forward this clip to 2:50. Makes me well up every time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8-_Ated6Io
