Sitcom advice/recommendation

Hello All,

I've run out of things to watch. I currently live in New Jersey in the US and have become totally disgusted with US sitcoms. I am looking for some recommendations in things to watch from the UK. I guess the best way to get a recommendation is to list what I like, so you have something to base your recommendation upon.

Some U.S. sitcoms that I like (not in any order):
The Simpsons (the middle years)
Frasier (early to middle years)
The Office (yes, I know)
Newsradio
Any Bob Newhart sitcom (Bob Newhart, Newhart, etc)
Seinfeld

Some U.K. sitcoms I have watched and enjoyed (not in any order):
Fawlty Towers
The Office
Coupling
The Royale Family
The Smoking Room

I like story and character based sitcoms. Sitcoms with long story arcs, where characters develop and change from episode to episode. Not so much wacky humor but more dialog based and "callback" humor.

My favourite sitcom is I'm Alan Partridge.

You could also try Spaced?

Welcome Justin.

You should try Nighty Night.

I like most of your UK sitcoms and don't much like American ones.

Porridge and Only Fools and Horses are genius sitcoms.

I've heard some opinions that I should try Black Books, The Thick of It, and Spaced. I'll probably download the first couple of episodes of each and give them a try; probably buy the DVD sets if I like them.

Men Behaving Badly and Father Ted are both worth buying too.

Never heard of it before, I'll have to give it a go.

I've never watched the UK version of Men Behaving Badly but I wasn't a fan of the US version.

I didn't know they'd done one.

Have a look at the guides at the top of the site.

Black books is wicked dylan moran is class act in that. Green Wing isn't a sitcom but very funny.

Spaced! Spaced! Spaced! Spaced!

Black Books, Green Wing, Peep Show, Porridge, Blackadder, The Thin Blue Line, The Fall and Rise Of Reginald Perrin.

I also loved Royle Family And the Smoking Room, you must try Early Doors.

Spaced, Father Ted and Red Dwarf - class

Spaced, Blackadder and Peep Show I will agree are great.

if you wanted to be a bit adventurous you could try the third series of The League Of Gentlemen. Might be a bit odd for you though.

Aside from that I second almost every suggestion so far.

You are going to be very busy. :) And poor.
