Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle - Series 1 Page 22

Best episode of the series so far; even all the sketches were funny!

It's political correctness gone mad.

I didn't like the Village People sketch (apart from him referring to them as multi-coloured homosexuals) and I think the sketches in general are ruining the flow a bit for me. But I loved the stand up. :)

That was brilliant!

"I was very partial to the dark meat. Very partial."

I like having the little sketches in. And Eldon's always brilliant in them.

That was my favourite episode so far, I felt the sketches worked much better this week, particularly the One-Legged Ballerina one, which also combined a sketch taking a dig at newsreaders. :D

But didn't one of the ballerinas say "it's political correctness gone mad" when that didn't make sense? It would only have been "political correctness gone mad" if Stewart Lee hadn't made the observation about the ballet shoe for fear of offending one-legged ballerinas. Or have I gone mad?

I wish the sketches weren't such literal examples of what was just said. They labour the point and are predictable.

I know the bit you mean!

But I'm sure someone will explain it to us plebs.

Yes, that stuck out like a sore thumb.

Sketches were better this week, but for me too, they do ruin the flow and should have been cut.

I also don't think that Stewart Lee has a clue what "political correctness gone mad" actually refers to. As is evidenced by the ballerina sketch. But other than that, it was a far far better episode by miles. And miles. And probably a few more miles again. I actually laughed.

I actually laughed.

And then you cut yourself.

Do you think he really goes to Finsbury weight watchers? I'm fat and it would be my likely an ideal chance to stalk him? As I live near by and am a bit chunky.

Well, he's actually been doing that material for some time now. I remember going to see him about a year ago, maybe even two, and he did this routine.

Maybe he's a yo yo dieter?

Wasn't people using the phrase when it didn't make sense his point?

The standup was again excellent this week. I particularly liked the line about all towns up north having a cake named after them.

Apart from the one legged ballerina sketch, I thought the sketches were poor.
