Those big comedy 'moments' Page 3

For me, my favourite big moments include:

* "Don't tell them Pike!" scene from Dad's Army (classic).

* Paul Merton's News of the World T-shirt on Have I Got News For You.

* "They say of the Acropolis, where the Parthenon is..." from QI (I laugh every time I see that clip).

* The Mastermind sketch from The Two Ronnies.

* The scene in the Porridge episode "No Peace of the Wicked" where Feltcher prays to God for solitude and then the chaplin arrives.

* "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!"

* Jez eating the dog in Peep Show ("'Mummy' is probably the turkey's nickname. It could easily be.")

* The anxious Nazis ("Are we the baddies?")

Haha! Me too.

Apart from the ones which seem to turn up in every clip show:

Pretty much any scene with Trigger in it. Particularly his long-lasting broom and "they're going to name the kid Rodney, after Dave."

Father Dougal's list of things which don't exist & Ted trying to hammer the dents out of the car.

John Bird and John Fortune nearly corpsing while discussing a giant inflatable Queen Mother being towed over London by Spitfires to celebrate the Millennium.

'After Hours' on Smith & Jones (with Chris Langham) discussing death. "Of course it's always difficult to know what to do when someone close to you dies...do you catch them, just let them fall on the floor...?" "If I was to kill myself, I'd do it with poison in my sandwiches. It would be a suicide packed lunch."

You really need to order the DVD and watch One Foot In The Grave properly. It's exactly one billion miles away from Hyacinth.

Yeah, the latter is far ahead. ;)

I love Sid and Trevor's entry for the song competition in Bless This House.

Yeah, the latter is far ahead. ;)

I do hope you're joking.

Ace choices. In particular the Python and Peep Show ones. :)

I don't wish to be a killjoy, but most people who've posted have quite understood the thread . . .

I really wonder whether Gomper would have been happy sharing a cell with Feltcher... Sick

I loved that! Also the one where they were discussing homosexuality in the Armed Forces: the survey showed that soldiers did not want to wake up in the night with an over made-up, perfumed colleague trying to insert their genitalia into their bottom...

Clips I don't tire of:

Del Boy falling through the bar,

Del Boy & the chandelier,

Don't tell him, Pike!

Fawlty & his Austin

Clips that will surely become classics:

Stewart Lee lying on the floor in an ill-fitting suit ranting like a mental. Does it for me every time..

'Keep that safe, it's Liter's mind...' *plop* (Red Dwarf)

'Safety in the home' (Cook & Moore)

'That's MacBeth, isn't it?' (Blackadder III)

'Rifles?' (Reggie Perrin)

'Which one of you bitches wants to dance?' (Black Books)

'Boom, boom, boom, boom!' (Blackadder Goes Forth)

'Which one of you bitches wants to dance?' (Black Books)

Laughing out loud

Rubbish at remembering stuff like this.

Though Black Books do love the bit in the piano episode where Manny's playing from underneath by spoons and has to do the duet.

Kenny Everett as Spiderman needing the toilet and as Rod Stewart.

Porridge:

Williams talking about his 'enormous sexual appetite.' Then going on about how frogs, when they mate, are at it 28 days non stop.

Godber: 28 days?

Williams: Non stop.

Fletcher: No wonder they're eyes bulge out.

See also: Fletcher talking to Mackay about his mate who used to box and became punch drunk.

Mackay: What became of him?

Fletcher: He became a Prison Warden. He's doing very well.

Is there a 'not' missing? I can't recall viewing any 'best of' clip shows, so instead I'll add to the melange of misunderstanding by declaring I love the M*A*S*H episode where Hawkeye writes a letter home and Radar gets drunk and steals a jeep.
