This is why I love the internet

I defy you to not agree that this is the coolest thing ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJqoRaphiEk

That is cool. :D

Brilliant! I can't wait to try it at home.

That rocks.

Thanks for sharing that piece of brilliance, Lee! Put a big smile on my face :D

When I see something like that, I'm more aware of the breaking-of-the-illusion than the face value. I love Tesla coil demos but the added music was a real distraction.

There was no added music - these are "singing" Tesla coils that reproduce individual notes by modulating the voltage. What you are hearing is electricity.

You'll have to excuse me, I was thrown off by some comment where arcattack told one guy where to download the synth software. So I assumed they were also using the same S/W.

By the illusion, I meant that many people will actually believe that a man simply waving his hands inside a Tesla field like a music conductor can generate precise frequencies (despite the obvious lack of a mechanism) and that he's also controlling the timing of these arcs to musical precision.

To my untrained eye, there's trickery here that's concealed in a Blaine-like manner from the audience. To get such defined and precise notes, in the right sequence and duration, they're surely triggering it through a midi sequencer: that's controlling both start, end, and frequency of the note / plus switching the arc on and off to complete the 'effect'?

If you look at this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvQy9VY0s3w Here the music seems to be triggering the arc, and not the other way around.

I'm having a slow-brain day (as usual) so forgive me if I've got this ass-over-tit, as is my norm.
:D
