Comedy Lab 2009

Channel 4 have released details of this year's Comedy Lab pilots. They are:

- Filth, a sitcom set in the offices of a lad's mag. Starring Danny Dyer and Tracy-Ann Oberman.

- Penelope Princess of Pets, a vehicle for Flight of the Conchords star Kristen Schaal and her comedy partner Kurt Braunholer.

- Movie Mash, a parody of a film magazine show.

- Jack Whitehall's Secret Census, a show starring Jack Whitehall performing, "comedy experiments on the British public to assess their attitudes to the big issues of the day."

- Documates (working title), a comedy set in a flatshare.

There is also an interactive cross-platform sketch show being made by Hat Trick and the Funny or Die website, and a sketch show starring Irish comedian Liam Hourican.

Filth sounds interesting. The others a bit ... crap. But Filth I'd like to see.

Kristen Schaal one sounds of interest.

Danny Dyer. In a sitcom. Mmm. My flatmate tells me he was very good in a Pinter play last year.

He was funny in Severance. I also remember when he was in "Is Harry On The Boat?"

Agreed. I think he might be quite good.

I don't see this attraction to Jack Whitehall. Has anyone ever laughed at anything except his hair?

The original series is on YouTube as that was their platform for it. Some funny bits, but nothing too engaging as you would expect. I love the 'Kristen Schaal is a horse' routine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUkixWUJzPE
