Well, you're a Hancockian and no mistake !

'Sid, get the car . . '

Oh, absolutely. Always a pleasure to meet a fellow enthusiast of old Tub :)!

Sid: There's still time to find a couple of girls.

Tony: Of course there isn't. All the spare stuff will be fixed up by now. Believe me, I know from experience, if there's anything left after ten o'clock it's rubbish.

:D

It's fantastic, but it ain't a sitcom.

It IS a sitcom. I know it changes different characters every week but it is not a sketch show so if it had to be classified it would be a sitcom. In truth each episode is a perfect sitcom pilot (though the fourth episode is a little crap) so perhaps this edges it up to the greatest sitcom ever.

It IS a sitcom.

It ISN'T a sitcom. It's an anthology of different character studies.

Now you're just looking for any description which circumvents the 'sitcom' label!

Ok here's mine....

Not Going Out
Fawlty Towers
Outnumbered
Friends
Fraiser
Blackadder
Only Fools And Horses
Lead Balloon
Porridge
Everybody Loves Raymond

:]

Here's mine in no particular order:

Only Fools And Horses
Keeping Up Appearances
Rising Damp
The Office
Fawlty Towers
Are You Being Served?
Goodnight Sweetheart
Desmond's
Steptoe And Son
Thats all I can think of right now. There are loads more I like but based on comedy, writing, actors, characters, acting, and the impact it had on society, it would be that.

The League Of Gentlemen. I have an answer!

It is NOT a sitcom.

But it's NOT a sketch show either. It cannot be categorised. >_<

1 'Allo 'Allo!
2 Only Fools & Horses

Equal 3rd (I'm not being indecisive, I just haven't made up my mind):

Are You Being Served?
Blackadder
Brush Strokes
Dad's Army
Goodnight Sweetheart
One Foot In The Grave
Porridge
The Thin Blue Line
The Vicar Of Dibley

Once I get around to watching After You've Gone I may include that in my equal 3rd group.

Desmond's

Got a shock when the white guy turned up on the Enterprise shooting at Klingons. That was weird. Geek

My list of sitcoms is those I prefer to watch rather than sitcoms I read the scripts to (including Yes Minister and Yes, Prime Minister) or audio ones (I get more opportunity to listen to CDs of Hancock rather than watching him).
