Red Dwarf to return Page 15

Please be good! It doesn't even have to be brilliant, just good!

I do wonder why Dave is making it though, and not BBC Two. Surely, regardless of quality, BBC Two must know this would spark a fair bit of interest and probably garner quite healthy viewing figures. It seems a bit odd.

It's not in the market that BBC Two are currently aiming themselves at. Evidently BBC Worldwide are more fond of the idea. It's a purely commercial venture.

"We're no longer interested in the type of audience that Red Dwarf used to attract"

Is a quote from the BBC when asked about RD on an episode of Points of View.

Well that is just retarded.

That whoever decided that is a snooty imbecile with no respect for their audience.

These words here is what it means.

A shit load of DVD sales, and a last series that topped 8 million - you'd have thought they would have welcomed it back.

You realise that this means they are no longer interested in us? Anyway Red Dwarf still attracts the same audience it always has done - people who like Red Dwarf. This sounds like they couldn't be bothered coming up with a reason, and trotted out any old shite.

A shit load of DVD sales

DVD sales are the concern of BBC Worldwide, not BBC Two. And it's BBC Worldwide who've had the new shows made. Like I said, the new stuff is all commercial.

Yeah, but surely all the money goes into one big BBC pot? Or is that not the case?

Last Crusade was great. Crystal Skull wasn't as bas as some said, but the end was silly and didn't make a lot of sense.

I really enjoyed the fourth one. V. silly but entertaining. The second is particularly my least favourite.

Series 6 is my favourite and (I think) it's the overall strongest, 2-4 are very good too. I have a soft spot for the 1st series, though: though nowhere near as outlandish storylines as the ones that followed, but still the show started out very strong and the bunkroom scenes are mostly great.

I went off it after series 6 (or whenever Rimmer was hardly in it). Brilliant character.
