its a performance piece and a character im working on

When you've finished working on that, work on your grammar a bit.

Hi thanks everyone for reading. Im really quite glad I found this forum. Its an excellent place to get a bit of intelligent opinion. You know im a bit big headed. I have a bit of an ego. I could never quite work out why my 'excellent' work wasnt making it, why publishers, agents, production companys were ignoring me or rejecting me. It didnt make sense at all to me. I thought by now I would be rich famous and proclaimed a genius. But now I kinda realise why. Being on this forum and reading through all your own work. Im just amazed at the amount of talent that's out there. How many people who aren't famous or rich or working writers shit all over me and it was depressing at first and now im kinda realising that maybe just maybe being able to write well isnt really a unique talent at all, its just a two penny thing anyone can do and thos who do are competeing against others who can and its like a massive factory of new ideas and talent and anyone who really made it just got lucky, right place, right time. Its like ive read stuff here that would poo poo all over current comedy on the telly. Im ashamed of this world, 'after youve gone' gets commisioned for another series and the stuff here just sits here and will fade into obscurity. Ok rant done.

Morace. I really liked what you did there, I was considering chaning the ugly c**t line myself, I like the fake passport bit

also everyone else, the orginal intention for thread wasnt just for critique, it was kind of about how do I go about getting an open set at a comedy club??? is there anywhere out there where I can do this soon, I really can't wait six months, my personality won't allow it

add lines that are clues to the audience that this man is a moron.

Will these do, James??

(1) "I did what all good honest homeless people should. I broke into your homes."
(2) "Can I ask you one quick question? "Yes. you just did" I say "Now f**k off"
(3) "What is it about starving children and flies. Surely you would think flies would prefer fat children"
(4) "Little Liam here has aids" I say "I have no symptahy for drug addicts who refuse to wear condoms"
.

Depends where you live. Look in your local listings and see what clubs put on open nights and then contact them. Or try the forum on Chortle. You'll love it there.

Yeah, but as I said, these lines all feature the character winning. He needs more lines that show his character losing.

As for getting open spots, you might have to wait for one, but you can use that time to visit the clubs you're booking yourself into, study the other open spots and see where they go right or wrong, and to hone your material ready for your big moment. It's not wasted time.
