Everyone has always talked about a 'special relationship' between the UK, mainly because the US President has special needs, but I was wondering if you think Gordon Eye Brown should strengthen or weaken our ties with Uncle Sam? (Why is it you always have to call your parent's weird friends uncle?)
UK and USA
I'd like to have a link with the US. But I don't want a link with G W Bush.
So, maybe if he could just wait till the next president.
Agree with Zooo! The one in charge there at the moment strikes me as a milking opportunist. I quite liked Clinton ... at least he could play the sax. Dammit ... we (that is the UK) have only just paid off the WW2 debt to the US of A ... what kind of a 'special relationship' is that? I've decided I'm a European first (generally speaking they're much nicer than me), secondly a Brit ... and thirdly (should it ever happen that the Martians turn up) I'll support the World's interests. Be a darn good thing if the Martians did turn up to my way of thinking ... that'd stop us all messing about squabbling with each other!
Yeah thats my opinion providing the next US President isn't Clinton or McLain or that loony Romny. Fingers crossed for a Democrat, Obama ftw!

It's not a question of strengthening or weakening. It's changing the 'ties' is what's needed.

*glares*
I don't think of myself as European at all, even though I am technically. It sounds too sophisticated and cultured for the likes of me.
Me either. The whole idea of Europe as anything more than a vast continent is a completely synthetic notion, created by those who would gladly continue the work of Adolf Hitler in so far as uniting the immense geographical area under one single legislative organisation.
Hmph.
Bush sucks.
We don't need another Clinton.
Obama is too much of a puppet.
McCaine is a liar.
Rudy Giuliani is a brilliant, good, strong leader and would be smart enough to pull out our troops slowly, but surely. He's got my vote.
Obama's quite good looking, though.
Those are the sum total of my thoughts on the matter.
Aren't they ever?
You're not wrong.
Love or hate America, if world war 3 kicks of, we're going to want them on our side.
I thought they were more dangerous to those on their own side!!!
Anyway, if you look at Gulf War 1, it was the Brit's who were sent in first. The US sneaked in behind with all the newspaper reporters!

Oh strengthen, definitely, right around the neck George Bush.
