My school was awful, I'm not blaming the teachers, they were stretched to their limit, like in many schools. But I did not see any effort to teach any decent life skills. All I remember is copying from books; I'm sure we were being used as photocopiers.

I'm not saying there are no bad teachers Leevil. There are. And bad nurses and policemen and so on. But there are a lot more bad pupils with painful bleeding heart laws on their side. In there lies the rub.

We have to teach basic social skills. It's called PSE.

As for sacking a teacher. Criminal record for pushing a kid away from another kid he was about to hit? A criminal record for slapping a kid just after he's punched a little girl in the mouth? Are these the acts of criminals? I could go on. We still have an on-going case where a nursery nurse has been accused of assault when she tried to stop a kid falling on top of another on the yard.

OK, I didn't realise you were talking about those types of cases, and there is a clear problem with "the system" there. I couldn't imagine (I don't want to imagine) what it's like being a teacher, in charge of 30 little brats, I don't know how you do it, although I would've thought a giant bear teacher would be quite mesmerizing.

But I still regret not being giving the opportunity to a decent education, and for that, I'm probably quite bitter. I think I maybe turning into my dad, but they need to start teaching trades in school, that'll straighten them out Pleased

I've just been to the ice cream van on behalf of the dog (Yes, really) and while getting her plain 99 flake

You do realise that chocolate is poisonous to dogs, right?

Well it's a 99 without the flake really. I still call it a 99 flake though!

You do realise that's not Benny's pen digging into your hip, right?

So, in other words, it's a Mr Whippy.

Yeah..... :$ Ummmmm..... look over there!

Mmm...

Mmmm indeed. Want.

I've seen lots of ice cream vans lately. Although most of em seem to be speeding down the road, it seems more like BLIND THE KIDS.

Sorry, I couldn't think of a better pun.

Blind...? Is that based solely on 'mind'? I really hope there's an extra connection which I'm not making.

I think some ice cream vans have "mind the kids" written on to warn other drivers that kids may run out into the road.

Do the ice cream trucks in the UK dispense illicit drugs? It seems to be a recurring theme here in the States.

Yeah - but is that the only basis upon which Lee made his comment, or is there another link between the word "blind" and ice cream vans?

Probably. But only in the north.
