Mike Reid.

Mike Reid died today aged 67 of a heart attack.

What are your views on him as a comedian?

He didn't make me laugh but I thought he did a good job in Eastenders, in as much as it's possible for anyone to do a good job in Eastenders! :)

Spot on.

I sort of didn't really dig him since he was so ruthless on Runaround. I remember one kid was in tears.

I liked the Frank Butcher character, but I don't think you could call that acting, really, as it was mostly just himself.

Not really my kind of stand up which doesn't make him a bad stand up, just not the sort of act I would go and see.

Had a tough time in his life, but I think he coped well.

I'm not really into these platitudes when someone dies, I always find they lack reflection and honesty.

Who?

I can't think of Mike Reid without thinking of the character based on him in The fast Show - Dave Angel: Eco Warrier. Simon Day's impersonation was spot on, and I especially liked the interaction with his less than eco friendly wife, Shirley.

I saw him live at Butlins once & he got me up on stage. It was quite funny as he was very rude. In the end I whispered in his ear that I was only 14. He creased up & said he thought I was 19. He then came up with some stuff off the top of his head based on that. He brought me a lemonade at the end of the night.
I quite liked him.

Which Butlins was it?

That's a really nice story, Charley, thanks for telling us.

Your Welcome Godot.

I do like to share information.

I am bleeding like a bastard at the moment. Thought you might like to know that too.

Have you tried the mooncup?

I think you confusing hime with Chris Langham. Never watched Eastenders, never saw his stand up so no opinion really, sorry Mike.

Don't be mean to poor old Langham! (yet)

Mike does sound quite nice from what you've said Charley.

I always get him mixed up with that 80s DJ. Mike... erm.... summink.

A fine all round entertainer I’m sadden to hear of his passing
