It got a record audience for BBC 3. Obviously that could drop a lot.
Yep record for BBC Three alright - but what an indictment of BBC Three when 817,000 represents record breaking territory for them.
And it gets weirder. Even the critics have noticed they're practically pushing each other for pole position to slag H&C off, one has even compiled a list of all the dailies that stuck it big-time to H&C that day -

Couldn't wait, so iPlayered the show. Maybe by reading all the downbeat reviews of the show it had pre-empted and cleaned me out beforehand, because if I had been the first in the country to see it I'd have to report I found it . . . a bit flat - but that's all. It's not something I'd particularly seek out again, but I've surprised myself after reading the many postings of dislike about the show that on a couple of occasions I actually laughed out loud - OMGod! If everybody's right, and it is crap - what does that say about me?
I laughed out loud at the 'I'm coming' skit. Probably because I'd read an interview where he said that before fame and fortune, no one ever mentioned his weight and he got just as many girlfriends as his mates and they'd never mentioned it either - he himself being 'unaware' of his weight. I thought: no way yuh fat bastard! But the sketch of him throwing the girl's legs about to the left/ then to the right like she was a toy doll, and the expression on the girl's face while this was going on, had me laughing out loud. More in shock at the realisation that he probably can procreate then.
The other time was when the runners passed him on both the left and the right and he said something like: 'F**king hell!' in disappointment. Not a strong punch-line but it had me laughing, as in: yeah, yuh f**king fat bastard!
Do sketch shows open with their best, all in the opener? If so, then it's bad news; but they could yet surprise - didn't he (the fat one), contribute to Peep Show at one point? Don't think they would have garnered such poor reviews if they hadn't built up huge expectations with all the awards haul they trawled-in for Gavin and Stacey. And once at the top (i.e. no further travel upwards), if you don't at least maintain that position as a bare minimum, what other direction of travel is left?
