Misconceptions

What are the biggest/most common misconceptions other people make of you? (in real life, rather than your online persona)

At secondary school I must have been asked about 20 times if I'm Jewish. No idea why. Maybe it's because I'm called Daniel. And have a slightly large nose.

And wear a skullcap.

I'm often asked what country I'm from and people are surprised I'm British. Even after I've been talking to them.

A lot of people assume I'm from Manchester; seems to be southerners default setting for 'where northerners come from'.

Are you foreign looking or foreign sounding?

Sometimes I might sound a bit of an odd London/west country/Scottish mix which might be confusing. :)

Usually I'm asked if I'm German or Swedish or Dutch or Norwegian and more recently Russian. :O

I'm often assumed to be gay for the way I cross my legs. And sometimes have sex with men.

Sometimes people assume I'm sexist.
