Ledger to make Hollywood comeback

Ledger to make Hollywood comeback

By Eleanor Childress

Hot on the heels of his recent Oscar success, Hollywood star Heath Ledger looks set to triumphantly return to the big screen in what has been described as his most ambitious film to date.

Weekend At Bernie's 3 – Dead Reckoning looks set to eclipse even the success of The Dark Knight, as Hollywood pundits are describing this as the 'gross-out to end all gross-outs'. However, little is known about the plot but it will almost certainly feature the main character haphazardly trying to convince ruthless mobsters that the titular Bernie is not dead. With hilarity definitely ensuing.

The film will be helmed by Australian commercial and music video director Andrew Quatrain, who has recently finished work on the second clip for countrymen metal group The Zombie Harold Bishops. He had this to say about the project:

"When I heard that Heath had died, I got this vision and asked myself – is being a corpse really an obstacle for continued fame? No. I took a risk and pitched some of the major Hollywood companies about this idea – the most famous film series about a dead man, starring a famous dead man. Can you imagine it!"

Unfortunately for Quatrain, many of the major players did not see eye to eye with this plucky young filmmaker. However, a previously unknown company, Remote Spandex inc., were only too keen to finance this potential blockbuster. Company spokesman Marvin J Sprundle II takes up the story -

"Death. Funny, no? Well not until you see Heath's co-star. What could better than Rob Schneider working a freshly dug corpse like a Pelham puppet? And the late Mr Ledger will provide just the star power to make this a runaway hit. Good thing too, we had just been turned down by Scott Baio, who had informed us that he was definitely not dead yet."

Filming is set to begin next month, being shot entirely underground, both for tax reasons, and to keep Ledger's cadaver as fresh as possible.

Too soon?

The scary thing about that is that if they thought they could get away with it and it would make money then they would actually do it.

No of course it's not too soon, it's never too soon.

This is a wan smile rather than laugh out loud funny for me. Possibly, as Ned says, because it is probably just too darn close to the truth.

Weekend At Bernie's 3 – ....

Laughing out loud Loved the first two!

"Heath Ledger, plus full supporting cast" could enhance it a little.

I can see a stand-up using; "Heath Ledger's making another film - Weekend at Bernie's 3"

Did you write this, Balf?

Sorry to keep on, but is 'Eleanor Childress' your pen name?

Yup, Eleanor Childress is a fictional member of staff at the Tiffin Times. The whole site was designed to showcase some of our favourite characters - Davies, Chadwick, Sir Michael Carmichael-Carr and so on, and to keep them fresh. Put them in a webzine, and have them do and write stuff. Except it's us.

Sounds good. Off out now - will check it out later :)

Cheery boo.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm sure it would sell well at newsstands etc. Better than a lot of satirical mags I've seen. Loved the 'staff' biogs. :)

Cheers for the compliment, man. Appreciated.
