Ledger to make Hollywood comeback
By Eleanor Childress
Hot on the heels of his recent Oscar success, Hollywood star Heath Ledger looks set to triumphantly return to the big screen in what has been described as his most ambitious film to date.
Weekend At Bernie's 3 – Dead Reckoning looks set to eclipse even the success of The Dark Knight, as Hollywood pundits are describing this as the 'gross-out to end all gross-outs'. However, little is known about the plot but it will almost certainly feature the main character haphazardly trying to convince ruthless mobsters that the titular Bernie is not dead. With hilarity definitely ensuing.
The film will be helmed by Australian commercial and music video director Andrew Quatrain, who has recently finished work on the second clip for countrymen metal group The Zombie Harold Bishops. He had this to say about the project:
"When I heard that Heath had died, I got this vision and asked myself – is being a corpse really an obstacle for continued fame? No. I took a risk and pitched some of the major Hollywood companies about this idea – the most famous film series about a dead man, starring a famous dead man. Can you imagine it!"
Unfortunately for Quatrain, many of the major players did not see eye to eye with this plucky young filmmaker. However, a previously unknown company, Remote Spandex inc., were only too keen to finance this potential blockbuster. Company spokesman Marvin J Sprundle II takes up the story -
"Death. Funny, no? Well not until you see Heath's co-star. What could better than Rob Schneider working a freshly dug corpse like a Pelham puppet? And the late Mr Ledger will provide just the star power to make this a runaway hit. Good thing too, we had just been turned down by Scott Baio, who had informed us that he was definitely not dead yet."
Filming is set to begin next month, being shot entirely underground, both for tax reasons, and to keep Ledger's cadaver as fresh as possible.
Too soon?
