The Smiths

What a band. Has there ever been a more prolific and consistently brilliant band ever to roam this planet we call earth? They're the greatest of all-time in my opinion, and there are lots of bands who's music I adore

Best album: The Queen Is Dead
Favourite listening: Hatful Of Hollow

Best Songs:

1. The Boy With The Thorn In His Side
2. Reel Around The Fountain (Hatful version)
3. That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore

Lots more I could mention. Lets pay homage!

Big Smiths fan too. And Morrissey on his own for that matter, just bought his new one.

I often think 'Straneways Here We Come' is a bit overlooked; it's one of my favourites.

Burned the new Moz album, it's alright, some highlights as always but in terms of his solo stuff his last all-round very good album was Vauxhall & I. I'd say my fave solo albums of his would be*:

1. Your Arsenal
2. Viva Hate
3. Vauxhall & I

Bona Drag is strong too, but more like a collection.

*none of which reach Smiths heights. Not a slight, just fact. Still very good of course.

Ps: In terms of Moz songs, my favourite all-time song of his solo stuff could well be "Tomorrow" - it's fantastic. Close runner up "Suedehead".

Yep, very good; though I have enjoyed his last few also. The fact is he's never going to be quite as good, even at his very best, on his own, because he's not a genius musician like Marr; and he hasn't found anyone even close to that standard to replace him. I still love his solo work though.

For me, Smiths wise, I would say Strangeways and Hatful Of Hollow were my favourite albums.

I think Vauxhaul and I could stand alongside the best of the Smiths albums. I'm also quite fond of that Quarry album he did.

You Are The Quarry. Good stuff.

I especially like that song about how he doesn't respect America because they could never have a black president. :)

Well, he doesn't QUITE say that, but yes, that line is a bit redundant now. Though, if we were to be very strict about this, Obama isn't black, he's mixed race.

And when they finally do, he'll be proved wrong.

*See Above* :)

That is a belting song though.

Beat me to it.

*waves fist*

I also quite liked the album he did with Nancy Sinatra. Although much as I like Mozza, he's no Lee Hazelwood.

I'm liking 'It's Not Your Birthday Anymore' on the new album.

I wish he wouldn't put pictures of himself on the covers of albums now, though. Fat Morrisey doesn't sit well.

I like him beefy.
