You can't just pick shows randomly and pitch them against each other. It's wrong and goes against everything this board stands for.
;)

My take:

1. Adder split decision. For me Adder is the best ever. Though it's very close indeed- Fawlty was right there with it, though there were less episodes. Adder series 2&3 are the pinnicle of sitcom standards in my opinion.

2. Seinfeld, by half a hair. Both all-time greats, but Sein by virtue of being able to watch single episodes when you wish too. Both even in terms of level they reached.

3. Porridge overall- Both were great at their best, but Porridge barely had a dud episode. Only Fools went on way too long, but the grandad era was great. Some early Albert episodes pretty good, but then they started flogging a dead horse and it secended into soapopera-esque shite for the most part. It was definitely much better in the early years when the storylines focussed on just their 'scams' and they mostly lost out.

4. Both great. Very tough one to call. Honorable tie.

5. Judging overall obviously Dwarf had a good few more series', but I think peak for peak I'd give the edge to Partridge (1st series was gold).

6. Larry Sanders overall.

7. Both great, but series 1 of Green Wing was slightly better than the best Black Books series.

8. Enjoy both alot, series 1 of Mighty Boosh was great, but FT wins for sustained brilliance

9. Cheers overall. Liked early Scrubs, but not nearly as much of the recent episodes. Prefered early Cheers over post-Diane and Coach era, but overall it was definitely more consistent than Scrubs has been

10. Rising Damp wins. Young Ones was good, but this one is clearer than most for me.

Are you comparing Rising Daqmp with The Young Ones because they both had students in?

No prob mate. I see you're getting me back for my AD vs CYE analysis. Fair enough I am a bit hypocritical in saying those two shows were different and hard to compare, only to make this thread, but in all honesty I love disussing the greats and pitching 'em up against each other. All I was saying was I could't see how AD was miles better than Curb...*, but it's all down to the opinions fair do's. No harm mate.

*It's certainly more consistent, but I enjoy both at their best equally.

I just used most of my, say, top 20 faves.

I'm moving this to General Discussion due to its inclusion of American shows.
